[Jeanne d'Arc cosplay] Another Interpretation of the Holy Maiden in Fate

This time, I tried styling Jeanne d'Arc from FGO Fate. As mentioned in the post description and as I'd like to preface, it is indeed a bit OOC. However, the main purpose this time was to interpret her in a lighter, more ethereal way, so I opted for a black lace gauze top and choker. Shedding the heavy armor actually allows feminine features to stand out more.

Regarding hair and makeup, to stay close to the original work, I specially picked a warm golden-blonde wig and braided a thick plait in the back; trimming the front bangs took quite a while to achieve that perfect curve. For the headpiece, I chose blue-and-white flowers, which appear very dimensional through color contrast. For the eyes, I wore crystal-clear ice-blue colored contacts, paired with reddish eyeshadow and defined tear trough highlighting to maximize the presence of the eyes. The blush was applied beneath the eyes and across the cheekbones, where the pinkish tone lends a softer look to the character.

For jewelry, I paired a black choker inlaid with a teardrop-shaped teal-blue gemstone with a glittering rhinestone necklace above it. These two accessories harmonize wonderfully with the Black dress, creating visual highlights against the pure black fabric. The fabric of the outfit is lightweight, and the sheer sleeves feature subtle textures, making it quite breathable to wear.

The shoot used standard indoor white lights with a cooler color temperature. Since indoor reflections were relatively uniform, the facial illumination remained very soft. To better present the entire look, I primarily used hand gestures to add variety to the framing—such as making peace signs, resting my chin on hands, and poking my cheek. Pairing these gestures with expressive eye contact makes the photos feel much more interactive. In the opening shot, pulling the camera back slightly to reveal part of the collarbone and the necklace creates a great composition and texture.

Organizing these photos was also a process of reviewing how I can better approach the character. As an amateur cosplayer, I am exploring techniques and skills step by step—from handling wig layers to gaining experience in choosing colored contacts, alongside regularly studying different styles of eye makeup. Regarding the mention of OOC, I actually agree, because fully capturing that divine Holy Maiden demands exceptionally meticulous makeup design and temperament portrayal. That's why I am attempting to deconstruct her in a way that fits my own traits better, leaning into a more casual 2D aesthetic.

Combining elements like blonde hair, blue flowers, and a Black dress yielded a visual result that I personally really like. In Cosplay photography, the hardest part is always the subtle expression control during fine movements—such as the gentle pressure of an index finger on the cheek, or the precise direction of the gaze into the lens, all requiring micro-adjustments. I hope the details and styling adjustments in this cosplay outfit offer a refreshing visual experience to everyone who loves this character.
