Here is a review of the preparation and shooting process for this Marin Kitagawa outdoor street photography shoot. First, talking about the wig, this gradient wig features golden-orange roots and pink tips. The bangs were tricky to manage, requiring a flat iron and hair wax to shape into a curve, fixed with hairspray; otherwise, an afternoon breeze during an outdoor shoot would blow the bangs right into my eyes. The hair length reaches right to the waist, which easily tangled with the backpack strap while walking, so I switched the bag to the other shoulder during shooting. For makeup, controlling facial shine was key. Strong outdoor sunlight easily causes shine on the chin and around the nose, so a matte oil-control primer was used. For eye makeup, a touch of pink-purple eyeshadow was applied locally to echo the wig color and harmonize the facial tones. For the outfit, a combination of a white shirt, blue pleated plaid skirt, and dark blue tie was chosen. The fabric of the plaid skirt is fairly stiff, looking great as it flutters in the wind, though it creases easily when sitting on steps. The bow tie is on the larger side, making the face look smaller, but tying it tightly can feel a bit restrictive on the neck after a while. The black mid-calf socks and platform leather shoes are truly the soul of this outfit, visually elongating the leg lines once worn. Platform shoes are definitely heavy to walk in, leaving my feet quite sore after half a day of shooting. The location was set on a quiet street with white walls and gray awnings in the background, complemented by classic crosswalk lines in front. The sunlight at 2-3 PM was very harsh; direct front light would cast harsh facial shadows, so positions were adjusted to use side-backlighting. A reflector was placed on the ground for fill light to keep the face naturally bright and clear. For props, I held a fruit tea and a brown leather bag to give my hands natural placement. The posing mainly featured side-profile turns and a lifted single-leg stance, looking playful while elongating body proportions. Post-processing didn't involve complex retouching, mainly balancing exposure and color temperature. To make the image closer to authentic visual perception, the warm, yellowish sunlight was adjusted slightly cooler, making the skin appear clean and translucent. With few pedestrians passing by, the snapshot process went quite smoothly. To capture the quality of sunlight illuminating the white wall, I watched the trajectory of light and shadow closely, checking several spots before settling on the final standing position. These are basically the granular experiences—hoping they offer some reference value for friends who enjoy outdoor shoots and Anime-style photography.
