This photoshoot featuring Cheshire's scrapped concepts from Azur Lane is finally complete. Compared to the standard design, this costume leans heavily toward a cool-toned blue and white palette, which, paired with a charcoal-black base wig accented with icy-blue highlights, presents a rare, detached coolness. Because the outfit features an off-shoulder corset silhouette layered with abundant lace trims and semi-sheer white stockings, it demands flattering body lines, requiring careful thought regarding poses and angles before shooting.
Since this is a scrapped concept, the goal was to evoke a vibe distinct from the official look. For makeup, icy-blue colored contacts were paired with a sheer pink lip and blush, accented by subtle red eyeshadow at the outer corners to echo the Cheshire Cat's mysterious, captivating gaze. The studio set featured oversized gears and white classical pillars, which, illuminated by a cool-white ring light, accentuated the translucent textures of the sheer tulle and lace.
Communication with the photographer on set was key. To highlight the leg lines while keeping the focal point centered, I dynamically adjusted between seated and kneeling poses. The composition in Photo 8—arching backward with legs raised—flawlessly showcased leg lines, the texture of the white tights, and upper body curves simultaneously without crowding the frame edges. Throughout the shoot, I maintained a languid yet subtly teasing expression to align with the character's persona.
The costume contains numerous lace-up straps along with matching necklaces and gloves; while assembly was intricate, these accents added substantial depth to the finished photos. When shifting angles, I made sure to incorporate the background's blue florals and yellow plush props to enrich the palette beyond plain white. Though based on scrapped concepts, wearing this remarkably designed outfit provided a wonderful shooting experience, capturing its distinct texture beautifully through anime-style photography.
