[Ganyu Cosplay] Journey with Bunny Ears: The Cute Offensive of Liyue's Adeptus Qilin

This bunny-themed Ganyu Cosplay shoot utilized bright high-key lighting, paired with a pristine white background and hanging crystal bead strings to evoke the chilly, dreamlike atmosphere of Liyue. For the wig styling, an ice-blue long hair wig was selected. Air bangs combined with twin tails modified face contours nicely while adding lively charm. The plush animal ears atop the head are a core design feature of this Kemonomimi girl aesthetic; the inner ears feature a blue-and-white diamond pattern echoing her Vision's hue, while the white frangipani flower on the side adds a touch of summer tropical flair, softening the coldness of the blue tones.

As for the outfit, the upper body features a black-and-white paneled design accented with white lace, complemented by a stand collar adorned with a dangling golden bell that rings softly with movement, adding realism. The transparent blue wide sleeve covers on her arms are crucial to the texture of the Cosplay outfit; this semi-translucent material combined with white forearm guards adds visual layers while reflecting varied luster under Anime-style photography lighting.

For makeup, to complement the character's snow-white skin, the base makeup was kept light and translucent, paired with soft peach-pink blush and matching lip colors to convey a healthy, adorable radiance. The eye makeup used light-colored lenses while emphasizing the aegyo sal to make her gaze appear gentler and dewy.

During the shoot, to better capture the "bunny" motif, dynamic poses like tugging at the animal ears, adjusting sleeve covers with one hand, and relaxed neck-and-shoulder postures were utilized. Multiple angles were tested during Anime-style photography, and reviewing the shots confirmed that these frontal half-body compositions captured the character's playful expressions perfectly. The most grueling part of every cosplay is wig styling—adjusting bangs direction while securing the animal ears firmly. It took plenty of hairspray and bobby pins to keep the ahoge and stray locks in flawless place before the camera.

Balancing "ethereal grace" and "cuteness" in this Kemonomimi girl look requires fine control between liveliness and elegance. Poses avoided overly stiff staging, opting instead for casual, candid captures to make the character look like a spontaneous moment caught in front of the lens. The transparent blue sleeves appeared ice-like under illumination, feeling exceptionally crisp against the pinkish-white backdrop.

The most enjoyable part of cosplay is bringing 2D characters into the real world. Putting on this outfit, wearing the ears and wig, and facing the camera is my way of drawing closer to the character—capturing her unique aura by analyzing outfit details, facial nuances, and gestures. From makeup trial to final images, countless hair patches and clips were consumed, while the photographer clicked the shutter endlessly to grab these natural expressions.

For post-processing, skin texture was intentionally preserved without over-smoothing, letting light and shadow reveal the authentic weave of fabrics and plush materials. Transparent bead curtains in the foreground added depth of field, immersing the character in a miniature fantasy realm. Looking across the entire photography approach, the goal wasn't an exaggerated aesthetic, but an accessible daily intimacy easily adaptable to convention or studio shoots. This light retouching paired with bright illumination yielded deeply satisfying results.
