[Shirasu Azusa Cosplay] Summer Swimsuit Azusa: A Cool Snapshot by the Pool

Slipping into this summer swimsuit version of Shirasu Azusa and standing poolside outdoors, I finally felt a genuine vacation vibe. This shoot showcases the refreshing beach look of the high school maiden from Blue Archive. Beyond achieving accuracy in costume recreation, the key is capturing that light, airy charm unique to summer and her character.

For the wig, I selected long, straight silvery-white hair, specially styling it for fluffy volume and silky smoothness to fit Swimsuit Azusa's image. Under the sunlight, it shines with a natural gloss without looking stiff. The oversized pink bow with white polka dots resting atop, accompanied by blue and yellow side hair clips, creates a vibrant, maiden-like color scheme. For makeup, I opted for a clear, translucent base that emphasizes wide eye contours, enlarging eyelashes and eyeshadow area to recreate her signature expression. It looks lively with just a touch of exaggerated anime aesthetic—a crucial element in anime-style photography.

The costume features a two-piece swimsuit cosplay design, centered around pink and white stripe paneling, accented by a 3D pink bow at the chest and trimmed with delicate ruffles. The hemline also sports a double-layered ruffle design, making it remarkably rich in detail for a summer outfit. I absolutely love the color palette; the dark blue edging and waist straps not only define the waistline but also balance the overall visual center of gravity. The colorful beaded necklace around the neck is a masterstroke—the clash of yellow, orange, and pink instantly maxes out the vibrant summer feel. The platform lace-up sandals are equally distinctive; their blue-and-white striped bows echo the overall attire color scheme, while the wedge design visually elongates the leg line, achieving a style that feels both casual and intentionally designed.

The location was an outdoor patio poolside, where white rattan lounge chairs paired with white arched architecture in the background created a clean, crisp color tone, complemented by lush tropical plants for an ultra-refreshing environment. The lighting on shoot day was excellent; resting under a sun umbrella provided soft facial illumination against a brightly lit background. This setup of soft key light with high-key background lighting is ideal for swimsuit cosplay, making skin texture appear beautifully translucent in anime-style photography. I sat sideways on the lounger with one leg naturally crossed and hands resting lightly by my side—a pose that felt naturally relaxed while showing off the drape of the skirt hem and top.

When shooting this Shirasu Azusa cosplay, what mattered most to me was conveying the character's core demeanor. Despite wearing a cool summer outfit, Azusa inherently carries a shy, reserved nature. Thus, during posing, I avoided overly bold or outgoing gestures, preferring a quiet, slightly hesitant gaze into the lens. This subtle atmosphere, combined with the cool pool water and serene surroundings, harmonizes perfectly with her character setting.

Pre-shoot preparations like wig styling and smoothing out clothing folds took significant effort, especially setting the ruffle trims against potential outdoor breezes. To avoid disheveling the costume, movements had to remain gentle and slow. For post-processing, I eschewed heavy special effects, retaining natural colors, light, and shadow so the entire photoset feels like candid resort snapshots at a tropical island hotel. This touch of everyday realism brings out character essence far better than over-editing. Ultimately, presenting her like this this summer is a beautiful memory for me as a cosplayer and for fellow Blue Archive players alike.
