[Yidhari Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero's Octopus Sister: Industrial Ruins Photoshoot Record

It feels like a newly made dream has extended into reality; this set of Yidhari cosplay photos from Zenless Zone Zero is finally edited. Unlike the sweet, next-door style characters I've cosplayed before, Yidhari's design carries a playfulness and mystery unique to 'Octopus Sister.' Therefore, during the shoot, I specifically adjusted my state to express that lazy yet slightly dangerous vibe.

There are so many details in this outfit. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder spliced design with a white base and black borders, and the neck to the chest is adorned with purple auspicious cloud-patterned ornaments, with a massive golden ring emblem embedded right in the center, which serves as one of the visual anchors of the entire attire. The detached sleeves feature a black-and-white color contrast, with cuffs adorned with bowknots and polka-dot patterns, making them look much lighter and more agile than I imagined. The black leather shorts on the lower body have a wonderful glossy texture, with edges complemented by golden mechanical-textured details. The metal chains on the side of the waist and the small circular pendants with blue elements serve as excellent accents, making the visual transition between the upper and lower body very natural.

What attracted me the most this time must be the styling of the legs, which adopts a highly interesting asymmetric pairing. The right leg features light purple over-the-knee socks, while the left leg has slightly shorter calf-high socks. This asymmetric design paired with thick-soled, black-and-purple color-blocked block heel shoes visually elongates the leg proportions beautifully. The stockings have a certain sheerness under natural light, with just the right texture and luster, which fits the character's mysterious aura perfectly.

The prop was definitely the 'biggest headache' yet the greatest hero of this shoot. That heavy weapon with a long turbine handle features a massive mechanical weight at the bottom, distributed with several purple vents and red glowing buttons, making the entire rod extremely heavy in hand. Carrying this giant thing to strike poses indeed took a lot of strength. During the shoot, I needed to stand on one foot or raise my leg high while keeping the long rod perfectly straight or tilted, which was a massive test for my wrist strength and core balance—it was very easy to lose my footing if I wasn't careful. However, all the hardships vanished the moment I saw the final photos. The addition of the prop indeed enhanced the narrative of the images, perfectly matching the mechanical vibe with the character's otherworldly feel.

For the makeup, I wore purple circle lenses and slightly elongated the eyeliner to make my gaze look sharper and more spirited. The wig is a light blonde bob with black highlights, featuring a signature ahoge on top. Paired with a tilted black beret, it both preserves the character's original playful and agile side and adds a touch of coolness. Although the prop was heavy and sweat occasionally got onto the bangs, the overall makeup held up quite well.

The shooting location was chosen in an abandoned industrial area, where the rusty-red massive metal hopper and weathered red brick walls behind formed an excellent background, while the gray-white concrete ground, gravel, and dry grass created a post-apocalyptic and fantasy-interwoven atmosphere. The heavy purple tentacle fabrics were draped over the brick walls and the ground. This striking purple clashing with the dark-toned industrial setting produced a powerful visual contrast. During the shoot, the photographer constantly guided me to adjust my angles and center of gravity so that I could showcase the character's tension without losing balance. Especially for the high-leg-raise pose with the long rod in the third picture, we tried several times before achieving the desired effect.

Cosplaying Yidhari this time was truly a highly interesting attempt. Although the process of changing outfits, styling the wig, and carrying the prop for the shoot was indeed exhausting, it felt incredibly magical to materialize the setting and atmosphere of my favorite character into photos. I hope this set of photos, which fuses industrial ruins, mechanical props, and mysterious 2D elements, can convey the Octopus Sister in that wondrous dream of mine in our Industrial style photography session.
