Today, I shot this styling of Onodera Haru from Nisekoi at a cafe. Choosing this location as our shooting venue was primarily because the wooden bar counter and warm-toned lighting harmonize exceptionally well with the temperament of this outfit, capable of cultivating a casual yet cozy everyday atmosphere.

In costume coordination, I selected a light yellow knit cardigan paired with a white shirt featuring a blue sailor collar. The lower half is matched with a light blue pleated short skirt, along with white knee-high socks and black glossy patent leather shoes. Regarding accessories, the green necktie serves as the crowning touch of the entire coordinate, making the overall color palette much more vibrant and dynamic. The wig was styled into a high ponytail, leaving sideburns to frame the face, with an intentional cowlick sprouting from the crown, secured by an orange hairpin and a blue scrunchie.

During the shoot, I tried my best to immerse myself in a relaxed and leisurely state. The first photo selected an over-the-shoulder look-back pose, with my arm resting naturally on the bar counter; this posture wonderfully showcases the side lines and back silhouette of the outfit, while granting the gaze toward the lens a stronger interactive appeal. The second photo features me seated on a high stool with my legs crossed—this sitting posture visually refines the leg lines, while the contrast between the white knee-high socks and black patent leather shoes imparts greater spatial layering to the frame.

To cultivate that lazy yet refined feeling inside a cafe, the photographer and I experimented quite a bit with light utilization. We steered clear of harsh direct light, leveraging the cafe's warm yellow indoor lighting alongside the background chalkboard and wooden storage shelves to heighten spatial depth. Because the knit cardigan material is relatively soft, I remained mindful during posing to keep the garment smooth, preventing awkward wrinkles from compromising overall aesthetics.

Character Onodera Haru boasts an extremely striking clothing color palette, with the yellow-and-blue color-blocking offering phenomenal recognizability. To render this effectively in reality, I intensified color unity in the makeup, blending red-toned hues across the eye sockets and cheeks, matched with colored contact lenses to draw the overall aura closer to a 2D cute appeal. Between shooting intervals, I would constantly groom my skirt hem and necktie to guarantee every shutter click captured my absolute best state.

The highlight of this styling lies in the garment's silhouette and accessory pairing. I intentionally left the cardigan's buttons unbuttoned, revealing the white shirt and green necktie underneath, which visually prevents it from looking bulky and better accentuates the coordinate's layering. The pleated skirt length is precisely ideal; paired with knee-high white socks, the visual focus naturally gravitates toward the legs. Various cafe props, such as the chalkboard menu, vintage lantern, and wooden storage crate, acted as natural backdrops, preventing the images from feeling monotonous.

In scene interaction, I also experimented with leveraging minor bar props to enrich frame details. For instance, gently touching the green storage box with my hand or shifting my center of gravity to render body language more natural. While shooting the second frontal sitting pose, to make the leg lines appear sleeker, I maintained a straight spine and extended one foot slightly forward; this posture not only stretches visual proportions but also makes the combination of socks and leather shoes stand out more prominently.

Regarding clothing coordination, the blue-and-yellow color clash is inherently eye-catching, so prop selection leaned heavily toward wooden and vintage tones to avoid excessive color clutter. The photographer utilized a wide aperture to blur the background during composition, locking the visual focus squarely onto the subject and costume. This shoot also accumulated valuable experience for me on how to utilize everyday settings to shoot 2D characters. Merging 2D costumes into real-world settings hinges on a relaxed state and rigorous attention to detail—such as the wig's hair texture, garment smoothness, and gaze transmission. Only by investing effort into these aspects can photos possess both everyday life authenticity and character recognizability without compromise. Overall, this photoshoot was an immensely joyful experience, successfully bringing my favorite character into reality.
