Based on the gear of this Silver Wolf styling, I want to sort out the costume design details of this shoot and, by the way, talk about the coordination between the live scene and the props. In this shoot, the costume features a classic color scheme of black, white, and purple. The outer short glossy leather jacket generates a wonderful reflection effect under the lighting setup, and the inner white crop T-shirt balances the visual center of gravity nicely, preventing the upper body from looking too dull. The design of the waist belts and the skirt preserves the tech feel while revealing the waistline, which, along with the highly conspicuous pixel-block tattoo on the thigh, counts as a detail with extremely high recognition in the entire styling. The wig selects a light blue-white gradient long curly hair style, combined with the black grid goggles on top of the head to merge the character's pioneer feel and gaming vibe together. To take care of the overall proportions, a pair of black and blue thick-soled tactical boots was paired on the feet. This sole design increases the weight volume of the lower body, forming a strength-based echo with the upper-wide and lower-narrow short-cut style of the overall costume.
Next, let's talk about this set of large props. Before shooting, many people asked me how to grasp the center of gravity of the weapons. Actually, the actual weight of these floating weapons is not light. To present this precise hovering effect, it requires the internal weight distribution of the props and the support stand to coordinate exceptionally well. On the shooting site, we adopted a method of hiding the stand to display the weapons' floating sensation, processing out the supports in post-production, which also placed high demands on the standing position; if the camera angle tilts slightly, the weapons will look very obtrusive. In these photos, the front close-up lighting strikes from the upper side, exactly outlining the layers of the wig and the metallic details on the leather jacket's shoulders. The third full view photo completely displays the entire attire. Full-body photos are indeed easier to reflect the overall outfit logic, especially the pixel patterns on the thigh, whose position was specially adjusted during tailoring and patchwork. The shooting environment also gave me quite a bit of inspiration; the background's massive screen paired with blue glowing light strips rendered a cool-toned texture that perfectly matched the temperament of this costume. The live light source wasn't particularly intense, so I intentionally made the side rim light more prominent during lighting to emphasize the sense of space brought by the floating props. The post-processing focus of the entire photo set lies in the unification of colors, pulling the highlights of the environment and the cool tones of the whole costume into the same frequency band to give the silver mechanical structures more weight in the frame. The most exhausting part of the whole shoot was actually controlling the positions of those large-volume props, repeatedly adjusting the center of gravity just to present such a natural yet oppressive floating state in the frame. The final presented effect conforms well to the original intention of this high-mobility cyberpunk outfit.
