Amid the midsummer heat, the waters of Chimelong Water Park served as the finest natural backdrop for this Poolside photoshoot.
Before the shoot, I specifically chose this light pink sheer chiffon bikini. Once wet, this fabric displays a delicate semi-translucent texture, offering far more depth than ordinary swimwear. Paired with a delicate waist chain, it creates clean visual breaks along the sides of the waist, accentuating body curves beautifully. The Pink and blue gradient wig was styled with blue tips so the overall palette wouldn't feel overly warm, complementing the cool refreshment of the aquatic setting in this Summer swimsuit theme.
For base makeup, I purposely opted for a matte, oil-control formula, as harsh sunlight by an outdoor pool easily creates glare on the forehead, disrupting the clean finish of the makeup. The eye makeup focused on blending at the outer corners: pale violet-blue eyeshadow echoed the tips of the hair, complemented by cool gray contact lenses. This contrasting color scheme made the eyes appear extraordinarily limpid against the glistening, ripple-kissed water.
For the legs, I wore a pair of semi-sheer White stockings woven with shimmer threads. The original rationale was that when sitting by the poolside or in the water, stockings provide a soft, smoothing texture along leg lines; especially under the refraction of light on water, the faint shimmering glint looks exquisite. Additionally, walking barefoot around the water risks stepping on rough concrete, so the socks offered a practical measure of protection.
Considerable thought went into the poses. The first shot, resting one leg atop the railing, was designed to elongate leg proportions, using the railing's diagonal line to lead the eye toward the toes. The middle shots highlighted the lines of the torso, paired with tugging gently at the skirt hem to enhance dynamic motion. In the water shot, I crouched slightly, gently rippling the surface with both hands; the spreading ripples broke up conventional composition, adding a touch of mystique to the frame.
The photographer's approach was to use a wide aperture to blur the trees and wire fence in the background, keeping the focus sharp on my face and swimwear. Sunlight shining directly onto the water naturally bounced back, acting like a giant reflector that rendered skin tones remarkably fair and luminous. Post-processing avoided aggressive skin smoothing, focusing instead on color grading: desaturating greens while boosting blue luminance so the pool water assumed a pure, painterly blue.
The whole session lasted about two hours with quite a bit of sweating, requiring two makeup touch-ups along the way. Fortunately, in the finished photos, the delicate ripples of the water and the textures of the outfit remained completely intact. By the time we wrapped up, the droplets on my skin were almost dry, leaving this vibrant moment beautifully captured in the lovely weather.
