Today, this massive Blue Archive group set was finally wrapped. I cosplayed Arona, while Huahua played Nozomi, Xiao Yu was Hoshino, Binggan took on Professor with a Smile, and Mimiko and Leng Nuan portrayed Tachibana Hikari and Plana respectively.

We shot across environments transitioning from classroom setups to cozy loungewear scenes. For the classroom uniforms, we wore White stockings pantyhose, pointed elf ear prosthetics, and police peak caps. The badge detailing on the cap was solidly crafted, instantly transforming your presence the moment you put it on. Arona's wig is a luminous, translucent pale-mint twin-tail; trimming the bangs took considerable effort to make the hairline and temple strands frame the face naturally. The makeup centered on clean, dewy clarity—after all, Arona embodies a very pure mechanical girl aura that can easily look overdone if the makeup is applied too heavily.

When choreographing group portraits, blocking and pose direction are paramount. Before the camera, we explored various standing marks and physical interactions. For example, in the seated pose in front, I held sunglasses, needing to project an interactive attitude that felt engaged yet coolly composed. Behind me, everyone showcased their character traits distinctly: Professor with a Smile held a black umbrella, Hoshino and Hikari had matching signature hand signs, and Nozomi and Plana aligned seamlessly with their established personas.

Shooting the second loungewear look, the overarching atmosphere became noticeably more relaxed. Everyone switched into oversized button-ups, loungewear robes, or relaxed casuals. Sitting across the sofa against the wigs and makeup, this grounded homeliness made the character interactions feel far more authentic. For an anime group photoshoot like this, mutual chemistry is key. We dedicated extensive time beforehand to character casting, wardrobe coordination, and set design. To capture that unique blend of academy campus life and daily downtime characteristic of Blue Archive, we spent quite a while testing light and shadow in front of the washing machine and wooden sofa.

When pulling off such a high-caliber group assembly, the core priority is visual harmony. Wig saturation, fabric drape, and even the opacity of the White stockings were strictly unified before the shoot. Bringing together so many characters at once, shooting from dawn to dusk while maintaining aesthetic integrity throughout, was truly a grueling campaign. Yet, that is precisely where the joy of creating together offline lies.

We faced our share of small hurdles along the way—wearing pointed ear prosthetics for extended stretches caused ear soreness, and keeping sailor suit skirt pleats pristine demanded continuous smoothing between takes. But seeing the frames pop up on the monitor made all those tedious preparations worthwhile. Standing side by side, each character's aura intertwined to create a true visual 2D collision. We simply wanted to express our genuine love for these characters through the lens in the most direct way, recreating a slice of that academy universe through concrete garment nuances and scene dressings.

Wrapping up a full day of shooting left us physically worn out, yet scrolling through the memory cards and seeing everyone standing together brought immense satisfaction. Realizing a beloved scene alongside like-minded friends is inherently rewarding. This group set crystallized our shared interpretation of character lore, striving to stay true to original designs in both gesture and expression. Looking ahead, we hope to explore even more diverse character pairings and elevate 2D visual fidelity to even greater heights.
