Changing into this purple and white ruffle maid outfit and standing in front of a pure gray backdrop, I allowed myself to completely immerse in this character's world. For this cosplay shoot, I focused heavily on costume accuracy and fit.

In terms of styling, I chose shoulder-length straight black hair with center-parted bangs, paired with clear green contact lenses, striving to make the overall look more delicate and close to a doll-like texture. For makeup, I deliberately toned down heavy eyeshadow, emphasizing long lashes and gentle features instead, as this outfit already carries plenty of layers and volume—overly heavy makeup would steal the spotlight. The white pleated headpiece on top, along with complex multi-layered white ruffles around the neckline and dangling neckerchief, took quite some time just to tidy up. The purple high-neck top color scheme is relatively rare, but combined with the white apron and massive shoulder ruffles, it presents a classical and slightly mysterious visual contrast with Retro elegant makeup and styling.

As for fabric selection, for the purple section I specifically chose satin material with good drape, while the white section used slightly stiff cotton to support the 3D structure of ruffles. Ironing before shooting was crucial; ironing out wrinkles on the purple sleeves and white apron alone took half an hour.

On the shooting day, I arrived at the studio early on purpose because the complexity of this outfit was far beyond imagination. Just the neckline ruffles required safety pins across several layers to stay in place. The shooting process was actually very interesting. To present different sides of this garment, we tried various composition plans.

A standing full-body photo effectively demonstrates the combination of the purple pleated long skirt and black patent leather Mary Janes, perfectly showcasing the skirt contour and waist silhouette. A half-body close-up highlights the texture of the ruffle neckerchief and details of facial expressions. A seated composition conveys a quiet, gentle mood—hands clasped on knees, paired with a lowered gaze, allowing the outfit's static stillness to come through completely. Shooting seated was actually more tiring than standing, because one had to balance the skirt's spread angle with keeping the upper body straight; a slight move would tip the neckline ruffles. I subconsciously held my breath lightly whenever the photographer clicked the shutter.

The photographer mastered light and shadow flawlessly; soft, flat studio lighting beautifully outlined the fabric's undulations and folds without strong contrast, giving the entire photo set a soft filter-like feel. In post-processing, I chose the most basic color grading scheme, as pure light and shadow were already beautiful enough; slightly brightening the face and clothing while increasing clarity made the photos look more textured for Studio cosplay.

Although this outfit feels heavy in volume due to layered ruffles and wide shoulder decorations, placing certain restrictions on movement, it is precisely these details that construct the character's unique demeanor. While repeatedly adjusting standing and sitting poses in the studio to adapt to this clothing, I was also attempting to gauge the character's essence in specific scenarios. This shoot experience gave me a deeper understanding of cosplay. Sometimes a great work relies not only on intricate garments and superb post-processing, but the interaction between person and outfit, cooperation of light and shadow, and the model's grasp of atmosphere can touch hearts even more. I am very satisfied with the quiet calm presented in this Doll-style photography, and I hope friends who view it can feel my devotion and care when interpreting this piece.
