For this Honkai Impact 3rd (Honkai Impact 3rd) outdoor shoot as Elysia (Elysia Cosplay), I deliberately scouted a field of pink muhly grass, as its pastel pink-and-white tones aligned perfectly with the character's aesthetic. Recreating a character faithfully depends heavily on pre-shoot preparations, so today I wanted to share some behind-the-scenes details from this shoot.

Regarding the wig and headpieces, pink wigs can be tricky to manage and easily look frizzy, so before heading out I carefully smoothed it with a flat iron and feathered the ends into natural layers. The bunny-ear headdress and inner lace veil were dual-secured using bobby pins and cosmetic adhesive; outdoor shoots always deal with breezes, and this ensured the accessories stayed locked in place. For the miniature white wings at the back, I attached them via clear shoulder straps anchored to clips at the shoulders and chest, worn over the white dress without distorting its tailored silhouette. When wearing this ensemble, undergarment color selection is critical—white textiles can be sheer, so skin-toned base layers were essential.

The costume is packed with fine accents: the faux ruby set into the chest and the golden bells at the waist were checked thoroughly before departure to ensure nothing came loose. The knife-pleats and delicate lace trims along the hemline tend to rumple when sitting or striding, so I kept a portable garment steamer handy and hand-smoothed the pleats between takes. For makeup, to accentuate her signature sweet elegance, I incorporated soft pink eyeshadow gradients, elongated the eyeliner with a gentle flick without being overly dramatic, selected wispy elongated lashes, and finished with a dewy, hydrating lip tint to keep the complexion fresh and glowing.

To infuse the imagery with storytelling, we brought along a violin prop. Though I am not a trained violinist, I practiced extensively in front of a mirror to ensure technically authentic posture. The fretting hand required a relaxed wrist without choking the neck of the instrument, while the bow arm needed proper grip posture with the bow level to the body. This prevents the violin from looking like a cumbersome deadweight and makes it look like genuine performance. Expression control was equally crucial: Elysia carries a warm, quietly confident gaze, so I relaxed my facial muscles, slightly tucked my chin, and balanced direct and subtle off-camera glances under soft ambient daylight to draw out her presence.

Outdoor shoots are a true test of stamina. While the pink grass looks dreamy, insects were abundant, requiring insect repellent sprayed across my arms and legs beforehand, and I took care when standing up to avoid thorny undergrowth. The photographer was phenomenal, firing the shutter swiftly during soft, diffused daylight hours while using reflectors for fill light to keep skin tones radiant and luminous. Though every cosplay project is physically demanding, painstakingly refining cosmetics, wardrobe, and kinematics remains the ultimate tribute to the character. This outdoor session remains a cherished memory with ideal weather and scenery, and I hope everyone can feel the care poured into it.
