This photoshoot features Aemeath from Wuthering Waves, a project I've dedicated significant effort to recently. For the first shot, a side-seated pose on the pink sofa was chosen, which works wonderfully to showcase leg contours; the over-the-knee white socks paired with long gloves visually elongate body proportions. The intricate details at the neckline and shoulders sit right in the visual focal point, making it the perfect choice for the cover image.
The preparations on the day of the shoot were quite elaborate. The character's high ponytail wig is heavy, and with the white feather-like headpiece on top along with the curved frame of red and blue beads, securing it in place took considerable time. Movement had to be strictly controlled to prevent it from shifting out of alignment. While the long gloves look richly textured, putting them on and taking them off is quite inconvenient—I even needed an assistant's help just to drink water. The second photo utilized the pink mirrored wall in the background, adding spatial depth while showcasing the full visual impact of the long gradient ribbons streaming behind.
The skirt of this costume is multi-layered, with overlapping gradient fabrics of different colors that easily crease during movement, and the hem can easily collapse. Therefore, in terms of posing direction, whether sitting or standing, I had to constantly monitor the placement of the skirt corners to ensure a light, airy drape. During the shoot, someone on set helped arrange the ribbons; tossing them into the air to freeze the frame was the most exhausting part, but it often produced the best visual effect.
For hair and makeup, I used light pink-toned cosmetics paired with amber contact lenses. The gaze is the soul of this Anime cosplay look; because these lenses shift in tone under different lighting angles, we tested multiple perspectives to catch the light properly and restore that cool yet tender demeanor. In the first shot, tilting my head slightly cultivated an elegant and soft mood, whereas looking back in the second shot required a sharper, more focused gaze.
To complement the character's primary palette as a Pink-themed girl, an indoor pink-themed set was chosen, where the unicorn wall plaque, pink mirror frames, and sofa all enriched the overall atmosphere. A softbox served as the main key light, enhancing the reflections on the White tights cosplay elements and skin while adding richer dimension to the chest and leg lines. Post-color grading preserved the original pink tones with minimal heavy retouching, allowing natural light and shadow structures to emerge. Doing cosplay involves tedious preparation and trial-and-error, but seeing a beloved character vividly brought to life before the camera brings an irreplaceable sense of fulfillment. The shooting journey was delightful, serving as a wonderful wrap-up to my recent dedication to refining cosplay styling and photography techniques.
