Today I'm sharing my official Ptilopsis cosplay photoshoot from Arknights. The shoot took place at Fuyunjian, a location boasting a quintessential classical Chinese aesthetic: the backdrop featured dark openwork wooden lattice screens, faux cherry blossoms, and a luminous full moon, complemented by an adjacent guzheng and plush fleece cushions to elevate the atmosphere to its peak.
Let's talk about the wardrobe first. The costume is dominated by white and light-blue tones, tailored primarily from lightweight, airy fabrics so that the semi-sheer chiffon on the sleeves and the elongated ribbon sashes created a graceful drape with every movement. The blue criss-cross ribbons across the chest and the blue-and-gold color-blocked sash at the waist anchor the visual center of the entire look. To honor the character's design, I selected a silver-grey wig, trimmed the blunt bangs cleanly, and left face-framing strands on both sides to flatter my jawline. The iconic grey-and-black serrated ear ornaments at the crown were the standout feature; their delicate black gradient along the edges was crafted with great nuance, pairing with the crimson tassel ornaments at the ears to sway gracefully in motion and infuse a touch of spirited vitality.
During the session, keeping the wig and headpieces secure was quite a test of stability. Because the headwear had noticeable heft, multiple bobby pins had to be anchored through the wig cap to ensure nothing slipped during head turns or larger poses. For makeup, the focus was concentrated on ocular contouring, utilizing reddish-toned blending to bring out the character's distinct allure while keeping lip color soft and muted to preserve a clean, porcelain complexion.
The guzheng and surrounding set dressing in the scene were the biggest delights. The first composition was seated on the plush fleece rug, holding a small prop close to my cheek; this required a slight turn of the torso with legs elegantly crossed to showcase the contours of the legs wrapped in White stockings. The fine weave of the White stockings looked remarkably realistic under cool-toned strobes. The second series of poses had me facing away from the camera to look back over my shoulder: because the gown features a backless design held only by slender ties and a neck collar, I needed to keep my spine straight and shoulders pulled gently back, allowing the photographer's lighting to sculpt the contours of my back and catch specular highlights. The final shot was seated on the platform edge, holding a translucent silk round fan in one hand while resting the other at my side, extending my legs forward in a gentle cross. This pose gracefully displayed both the layered tiers of the skirt and the elongated leg contours.
The entire shoot was quite demanding physically, as holding seated poses while adjusting through continuous micro-angles required prolonged stamina. Yet seeing the raw selects made every ounce of effort worthwhile. The dark wood tones of the setting, the white plush cushions, and the icy blue lighting harmonized seamlessly with Ptilopsis's innate cool composure without relying on theatrical expressions. Interacting with props like the silk fan and guzheng not only honored the character's essence, but also granted the composition richer visual depth.
