Among these Guangzhou CICF convention photos, my absolute favorite is this Arknights Amiya cosplay look from the White Rabbit Creamy Candy collaboration. The shoot was set in an outdoor courtyard outside the venue, where the sunlight and lush greenery perfectly complemented the blue-and-white plaid dress.
To reproduce the visual effects of this collaboration as faithfully as possible, a lot of thought went into everything from makeup to accessories. First came the makeup and wig—Amiya's bangs have nice layers, and the low twin pigtails on the sides with blue hair accessories are the true essence. Wearing bright blue contact lenses really added depth and sparkle to the eyes, which, paired with light and subtle base makeup, highlighted that cute bunny-eared girl vibe mixed with a cool 2D aesthetic. The pair of giant fluffy bunny ears on top was actually one of the harder accessories in this outfit. To maintain their natural fluffiness and upright shape, internal support was built in. At first, I was worried they wouldn't stay stable in the outdoor wind, but during actual filming, they performed surprisingly well, holding up even through various swaying motions on the hanging basket swing.
Regarding the outfit, the blue-and-white plaid dress complemented my skin tone immensely. The small white lace collar accented with two red buttons added a retro touch with a hint of playfulness. The small white apron on top was definitely the finishing touch—especially the dark silhouette print of tiny figures lining the hem, which maxed out the detail quality. As for the "White Rabbit Creamy Candy" cushion prop, its size was big enough to rest right against my chest. Not only was it an absolute scene-stealer, but it was also the soul of this collaboration. Holding it in my hands or resting it on my knees made every sitting posture look effortlessly natural, eliminating any awkwardness about where to put my hands.
The outdoor lawn, stone path, and white hanging basket swing we found for the location looked almost like an illustration brought to life. Huge thanks to the photographer @OrangePeel, who braved the blazing sun to capture the light for me, utilizing natural illumination to highlight facial accents and dress folds, making the colors of this blue plaid dress look remarkably vibrant. Beyond recreating 2D characters, cosplay is truly about finding the character's presence in a real-world setting. Under natural daylight, this Amiya collaboration look felt gentle yet lively, lacking any overly dramatic heaviness and instead carrying a charming girl-next-door vibe.
The only slight regret was perhaps the tight shoot schedule. The crowd at CICF was huge that day; while shooting outdoors, many passing fans recognized this as the Arknights Amiya x White Rabbit Creamy Candy collaboration and stopped by to say hi. This outfit certainly proved to have very high recognition in public settings. When shooting on the swing outside, sunlight filtered through the tree shadows, making the plaid fabric shimmer with a soft glow in the light and shade. Paired with white socks and shiny black Mary Jane shoes, the overall retro academic style was immensely appealing. Bringing a touch of 2D fantasy into reality like this is probably a major driving force behind why we love cosplay. I'm very satisfied with everything from the set, props, to costume details for this look, and I hope everyone can feel the care put into this Amiya cosplay work.
