For this shoot at the Haizhu Wetland ACG Creation Festival, I chose to portray Xishi from Honor of Kings amidst a sea of flowers. To align with the theme of "Wandering the Sea of Flowers with Light, Shadow, and Guochao Chic," my styling featured long straight hair with blunt bangs paired with a blue headband, adorned on the side with long blue tassels and silver bells that gently swayed alongside the ribbons on the headpiece with every step. The costume embraced a classic blue-and-white color palette: the top featured an off-the-shoulder, cutout design complemented by translucent blue chiffon arm sleeves; the skirt had an asymmetrical cut embellished with silver geometric patterns along the border; tied at the waist was a blue braided cord hung with white pom-poms and tassel accessories. The two long blue-and-white flowing streamers trailing behind served as the key props for this photoshoot.

The flower field in Guangzhou Haizhu Wetland Park is vast, with pinkish-purple blossoms and verdant green shrubs already offering a very rich palette. The weather that day was overcast with gentle, soft light and no harsh direct sun, which was remarkably ideal for outdoor photography. To prevent the chaotic colors of the flower field from overshadowing the subject, the photographer and I agreed to rely primarily on a shallow depth of field to blur the background, firmly centering visual focus on my movements and the flowing ribbons. This photoset includes a variety of physical expressions—from a static close-up half-kneeling in the flowers and glancing back, to a sweet, demure pose sitting along the stone path playing with the props, to dynamic action shots where I stood on one leg while vigorously swirling the blue-and-white streamers.

In reality, outdoor shooting is far less effortless than it looks. To capture Xishi's light, nimble, and spirited character, I had to be constantly mindful of elongating my limbs—especially the lines of my legs and the openness of my shoulders. When half-kneeling or sitting in the flower field, keeping my upper body straight and poised while steering clear of mud and stray twigs on the ground was a real test of core strength. Controlling the ribbons also took considerable technique: during gusts of wind they tangled easily, whereas in still air I had to run around or whip my hands to create dynamic arcs; behind every satisfying action shot were dozens of trial-and-error attempts.

Attention to prop details was equally crucial. The gloves, sleeves, and skirt ornaments showed different textures under outdoor ambient light; particularly with the translucent chiffon fabrics, continuous angle adjustments were necessary to bring out that ethereal, luminous feel. Being able to successfully finish this shoot is credit to the photographer's patient guidance, capturing numerous natural, vivid moments even in a complex outdoor setting. Cosplaying Honor of Kings' Xishi in a field of flowers was not just character portrayal, but a genuine interaction with the natural environment. Though the journey was a bit exhausting, seeing the blue-and-white attire blend harmoniously with the sea of pink flowers made every bit of effort well worth it.
