Many sisters keep asking me in private messages: how on earth do you take cosplay photos that come with a "Supernatural atmosphere"? In fact, for an At-home photoshoot within a limited indoor space, the most core secret lies in the delicate treatment of light and shadow and the texture choice of clothing materials. Cosplaying Xishi from Honor of Kings this time, I paid special attention to the fluid sense of the costume. Because the core of Xishi's image is "water" and "agility," I chose fabrics with a certain transparency and silk texture, paired with some soft side light sources, allowing the light and shadow to generate a flowing visual effect in the folds of the clothes, as if water ripples are gently swaying.
Aside from the costume itself, the minimalism of props and the environment also brings a premium feel. Although a minimalist home scene was chosen for this At-home photoshoot, I still picked out some small accessories that match the character's temperament to avoid the picture looking too cluttered. The control of poses is also very meticulous, pursuing a looming agility rather than a stiff freeze-frame. If you want to shoot with a great sense of atmosphere in your bedroom too, you can try utilizing a white shag carpet as the background color; it can reflect light very softly and reduce visual interference. For beginners, finding a main light source and highlighting the character's facial contours and dynamic lines by fine-tuning the angle is often more practical than complex lighting setups. I hope these little tips can bring some creative inspiration to friends who want to get into cosplay!
