This photoshoot features Kasugano Sora wearing a gymnastics uniform cosplay look, set in a very classic classroom setting. An anime-style school background combined with athletic styling actually places high demands on the photographer's staging and lighting, as this genre can easily look overly flat or cluttered in lighting.
Let's first talk about the details of this styling. The upper body consists of a white cropped midriff-baring T-shirt with navy raglan sleeves, paired with navy athletic shorts featuring white side stripes, made of material that fits the body closely. To match the character's long white double-twintail hair setting, I prepared the wig with meticulous styling beforehand: the top sides are secured with black bow ribbons, and a long section of hair is attached to the back of the head to maximize the light, flowing feeling and weight of the hair ends falling down. The white over-the-knee socks are the soul of the entire ensemble; under the cool-toned classroom lighting, the white tights cosplay texture looks exceptionally clean, while beautifully flattering the leg lines.
During the shoot, we utilized many existing items inside the classroom. For example, those old wooden student desks—in the photos, I sat on a tabletop with legs naturally extending forward, combining with an upper body support posture to deliberately elongate body proportions so that the bare midriff and visual guidance of the over-the-knee socks form a harmonious response. The volleyball served as an important interactive prop; in the moment leaping on one foot to receive the ball, it captured a nimble moment perfectly with strong dynamic energy—this frozen-in-time feel fits the lively atmosphere of a school PE class particularly well.
Choosing poses sitting on desks or on the floor was actually intended to show the character's lazy, slightly casual mood after exercising. The protractor and musical notes drawn in chalk on the chalkboard, along with handwritten chalk text, brought the classroom scene's atmospheric vibe to its fullest. The main lighting source from the photographer came down diagonally from above, forming a cool, monochromatic ambient light, but with soft fill light on the subject's face and body. This preserved the environment's authentic brightness while allowing skin texture, the translucent purity of white tights, and garment fabric details to be clearly displayed.
This outdoor-style indoor shoot actually encountered several small mishaps, like the volleyball constantly rolling under desks or the wig getting blown messy by wind, but it was precisely these genuine on-set interactions that filled the final output with vitality. Instead of forcing overly artificial poses, we focused more on naturally blending the character's energetic charm with school elements. The twintails, gymnastics uniform cosplay, and white tights cosplay elements paired with an energetic prop like a volleyball created a very crisp visual effect—maintaining Kasugano Sora's inherent cool, docile nature while adding a touch of lively youthful vigor through athletic elements. Completing this set of photos, I'm truly satisfied with this unified sense of atmosphere.
