Regarding this shoot themed around the Kasugano Sora bride look, it indeed took several weeks of off-and-on preparations from finalizing the costume and props until today, when I finally organized the Cosplay photoshoot set. The overall look follows a pure white lace bride route, featuring a multi-layered ruffled puffy dress with silver-gray stitching, a lace choker, long white over-the-elbow gloves, white tights, and high-heeled strappy Mary Jane shoes. For headwear, it was paired with a translucent white veil, yellow flower hair accessories, and long-draping white bows. Props prepared included a grayish-purple plush bunny and a light-toned bouquet. The overall visual emphasizes cleanliness and purity, completely fitting the delicate yet slightly stubborn feeling that the character gives.
The outdoor location for this shoot was selected at a classic European architectural photography venue composed mainly of off-white stone materials, featuring towering Roman columns, continuous corridor arches, carved stone railings, and spacious marble steps. We valued the natural light environment here greatly; most photos were taken on a clear day, using strong sunlight during noon and afternoon hours to create a high-key, bright atmosphere. The application of light and shadow was a key focus of this shoot—for example, diagonal light cuts formed by sunlight streaming through corridor arches, as well as crisp reflections on polished marble floors, both enhanced depth of field and made the pure white dress look even more luminous under the sun.
In terms of posing and emotional expression, we also incorporated several designs. For instance, when holding the plush bunny, rather than simply holding it in hand, there were various gestures like hugging it, pressing it to my chest, or holding the bunny by its ear with one hand. In several shots standing on the steps, low-angle perspectives looking up were attempted; this low-angle composition effectively elongated leg lines, enhancing visual impact alongside the white tights and high heels. Lifting the skirt hem was also tried with one hand or both hands, coordinated as much as possible with the white veil so the skirt hem bloomed with a petal-like fluffiness. Additionally, several photos were taken beside balconies and railings, using leaning postures against backdrops of distant blue sky and white clouds to appear soft and natural, breaking the monotony of rigid standing poses.
Let's talk about prop usage. The gray plush bunny played a great role in balancing color within the frame, because an all-white outfit easily loses visual focus, whereas the muted gray of the bunny grounded the bright highlights perfectly. The addition of the hand bouquet enhanced the bridal atmosphere; standing with flowers or looking down at them reduced the pressure of staring directly into the lens, adding a touch of reserved charm. However, to be completely honest, there were still many aspects of this shoot I wasn't fully satisfied with. For instance, the wig tips weren't styled smoothly enough, getting a bit frizzy and tangled in the outdoor wind; furthermore, the folds around the chest straps of the white dress appeared uneven during retouching, which felt slightly off to me. Looking back at the raw photos after shooting, I felt many details were missed in faithfully restoring the character, so as mentioned in the post description, there's still a bit of an "apologies for being OOC (out of character)" mindset.
During post-processing retouching, the main work focused on unifying color tones and removing haze. Although raw shots had ample light, shadow areas were occasionally quite dark, so shadow details were boosted to raise overall exposure for a high-key, luminous "hazy purity." Additionally, cluttered background elements were cleaned up—subduing eye-catching green plants or architectural clutter to keep viewers' attention focused on the character itself, while adjusting light and shadow on the legs so lines wrapped in white tights appeared more natural and slender. This photo set spanned several setups trying various poses and props, yielding a rich final result. While not flawless, it represents a meaningful exploration in my recent cosplay shooting journey, and I hope to learn from this experience to refine my hair, makeup, and styling details even further in the future.
