The theme of this photoshoot is the classic anime character Kasugano Sora from the work Sky of Destiny. During early preparations, I really wanted to integrate her quiet, languid, yet slightly willful temperament into a scene with traditional Chinese charm. Combining traditional architectural elements with a modified 2D anime costume, this set aims to visually present a dimension-crossing everyday aesthetic.
First, let's discuss the concept behind this cosplay outfit. The hairstyle features iconic platinum-blonde long straight hair, accented on both sides with black-and-white ruffled bow ribbons—a signature trademark of Kasugano Sora. The core garment is a white modified sleeveless Traditional Chinese style Qipao top with a retro mandarin stand collar and dark embroidered frog buttons, exuding both traditional elegance and airy anime charm. For bottoms, it is paired with black ruffled shorts, creating a classic monochrome black-and-white contrast.
When talking about this outfit, the leg styling is an absolute highlight. White lace-trimmed over-the-knee socks paired with glossy black chunky high heels form the very soul of Sora's look in this white tights cosplay. During shooting, this white stocking fabric heavily tested lighting control under natural daylight—striving to capture a pure, translucent quality without overexposing and flattening the dimensional contour of the legs. The shoes were also carefully selected; the glossy black patent leather popped vividly in the frame, creating a strong visual focal point against the ground.
As for props, I specially prepared a gray long-eared plush rabbit with a light-colored bow around its neck. In the composition, this bunny served not only as an interactive medium, but also anchored the visual center of gravity. In some photos, I held it in my arms or rested it along the adjacent railing—acting as a silent companion that softened the character's expression.
For the shooting location, we chose an antique Chinese-style covered corridor with upturned eaves, where sturdy dark pillars provided natural framing. The weather on the day was overcast and cloudy, offering uniform, gentle diffused light without harsh direct glare. This soft lighting was particularly well-suited for high-key, serene anime outdoor photography. In post-production, I avoided heavy color grading, mainly preserving overall translucency and fine-tuning the tone of the white stockings to keep the atmosphere authentic and natural.
In terms of posing, we experimented with various postures including standing and leaning against railings. My favorite shots are the ones sitting on the long bench with legs crossed, which naturally showcased the lines of the white stockings and legs while letting me feel completely relaxed. Midway through, I also tried taking off the high heels and sitting barefoot on the wooden railing; this small detail was meant to capture the character's unrestrained, carefree private state. Free from high heels, the mood leaned even closer into a languid, youthful everyday vibe.
The entire shoot went much smoother than anticipated. Although outdoors, taking advantage of the architectural shade allowed seamless coordination between model and photographer. This style of cosplay photography rarely requires overly dramatic sets; a peaceful afternoon combined with precise execution of costume details carries ample emotion. This set serves as a reimagining of a classic character's visual aesthetic. I hope that through the lens, everyone viewing these photos can feel that quiet anime moment spent in the antique corridor.
