[Phoebe Cosplay] Wuthering Waves Trainee Cleric: Rendezvous in a Vintage Library

For this shoot, I chose the character Phoebe from Wuthering Waves. The costume features an intricate design: a wide-brimmed straw hat, a black-and-gold striped bow, and a blue cross hair ornament, presenting a distinctly vintage feel at first glance.

Looking closely at the wardrobe details, the core is a white dress trimmed with gold piping along the cuffs, paired with a black collar underlay accented by a blue gemstone pendant. The most striking element is the blue-and-gold patterned sash—the embroidered motifs are remarkably delicate, and the fringe at the bottom provides an elegant drape. The subtle silver-gray damask patterns on the skirt also add rich layering. Moreover, the white stockings carry a muted matte texture under warm lighting, neatly elevating the overall visual focal point.

To complement this attire, I selected a vintage library as the shooting venue. Shelves stacked with books, a retro television set, wooden clocks, and corner greenery cultivated a grounded, serene ambiance. While this vintage atmosphere harmonized with the garment's ornate styling, it also posed a test for lighting. To capture the tactile quality of the blue-gold sash and white hosiery against the moody background, the photographer cast plenty of warm front light.

During the session, crafting the poses took deliberate thought. When seated, crossing my legs highlighted the length and contours of the white stockings naturally without feeling stiff or forced, projecting relaxed ease. Clasping hands in prayer reinforced the character's dignified grace. The metallic portion of the scepter was quite heavy and prone to wobbling when held with one hand, so for staff-wielding poses, I held it with both hands and adjusted my grip to maintain balance. Extending an open hand in an inviting gesture lent the composition an engaging, interactive touch.

Attaching and calibrating the accessories took quite a while. The tilt of the straw hat, the positioning of the bow, and the sapphire pendant at the collar all required repeated shifting to achieve the best visual outcome. The silhouette along the back of the coat, in particular, needed to remain crisp and structured; I had to keep my spine upright rather than slouching while maintaining an effortless poise.

The wide brim naturally shaded facial contours, requiring careful head angles to keep both eyes visible. The blue cross hair accessory couldn't be pinned with clips that were too tight, lest it flatten the wig. When the golden carvings on the scepter caught the studio lamps, I monitored the reflections from the corner of my eye to adjust angles promptly.

Practicing these poses felt challenging beforehand, especially while seated—the skirt is relatively puffy, so smoothing out the pleats upon sitting was essential to maintain a flattering shape in frame. Hand placement was equally critical: fingers had to remain relaxed and naturally curved rather than rigid to suit the vintage mood. Handling the long, cumbersome staff meant moving deliberately slowly, which happily aligned with the character's measured, steady temperament. With numerous books and props scattered around the set, the photographer made sure I stayed clear of floor piles to keep my silhouette clean, resulting in an exceptionally solid and polished photo set.
