Cosplaying Yanami Anna today! Putting on the blue wig, applying pink blush, slipping into blue contact lenses and round-framed glasses, and wearing this black sailor suit with a large red bow tie instantly creates that anime atmosphere. Rather than posing under studio lights, heading straight to McDonald's photography to document the character's everyday life with a fast-food meal felt so much better. Having seen the meme of Lao Ba's secret burger all over my feed lately, which happens to fit today's Yanami Anna cosplay look, I decided to launch full mukbang mode right inside the restaurant.
Actually, fast-food joints are an ideal location for everyday slice-of-life cosplay. The lighting here is bright enough, and the red-and-yellow tables and trays naturally form a warm, vibrant color palette. I deliberately picked a window seat where the natural light fell across my face with a very soft texture. To ensure high photo yield, I put a lot of effort into the makeup and especially the wig styling. Blue wigs easily look frizzy, so I treated the bangs and sideburns with hair wax beforehand, and that iconic little ahoge on top of the head needed hairspray to stay locked in place. The round-framed metal glasses are the finishing touch of the overall styling, pairing with the blue contact lenses to make the gaze look delightfully dorky and adorable.
During shooting, the props were the actual food. For the first shot, I held the burger in both hands, taking a bite and pouting at the camera to present a lively sense of chewing. To keep the frames looking natural, continuous shutter bursts were used to catch the most candid eating expressions. When holding the burger with both hands, finger placement was important so as not to block the sailor collar and the red bow tie on the outfit. Next came the close-up of biting into the burger, where tilting the head slightly better displayed the jawline and the layers of the wig.
Eating fries and a McFlurry brought even more interactivity. Dangling a fry from my lips while looking at the camera, or scooping up ice cream with a wooden spoon—these gestures infused the photos with slice-of-life charm. During the shoot, I intentionally brought the McDonald's fry box and paper cups into the frame to enhance the authenticity of the scene. Many friends might worry about eating ruining makeup, so I kept touch-up tools handy. Since eating burgers and fries easily rubs off lip gloss, after each set of poses I gently blotted my lips with a napkin and reapplied glossy lip tint. Another crucial point was always staying quiet in the restaurant so as not to disturb other diners.
Even without flashy special effects or backgrounds, the combination of Yanami Anna with Lao Ba's secret burger inherently carries immense entertainment appeal. The neatness of the Sailor suit cosplay formed a fun contrast with the casual vibe of eating fast food. From conception to completion, this shoot went very smoothly. Being able to wear an outfit I love, munch on fries, enjoy the AC, and document these lively moments is truly a joyful thing in itself.
