[Hayase Yuuka cosplay] Blue Archive Classic Sailor Suit Look Photoshoot Share

Today, I'm sharing my studio Hayase Yuuka cosplay photoshoot. Slipping into this classic sailor suit cosplay and styling the blue-purple twin tails cosplay turned out to be far more enjoyable than I had imagined.

Let's first delve into the core elements of this look. Starting with the hairstyle, Yuuka's blue-purple twin tails have substantial volume; to prevent it from looking overly bulky on camera, I carefully adjusted the inner wig cap and tailored the length of the sideburns and bangs so they draped right above the eyes. Paired with the pink-toned eye makeup I specifically created, the eyeshadow was softly blended outward to add that vibrant anime aesthetic, completed with light-colored contact lenses to sharpen the visual focus. Next is the sailor suit: a white short-sleeved top featuring a navy collar with white stripes, crowned by a large light blue bow at the chest as the finishing touch. Its color aligns seamlessly with the wig, creating an aesthetic that feels collegiate yet undeniably adorable. For the lower half, a dark pleated miniskirt was paired with black tights in a classic Black stockings cosplay style—a favorite combination among fans portraying this character.

During the studio shoot, the lighting was fairly even, though the floor reflection was slightly strong. In post-processing, I deliberately deepened the shadow areas and boosted the contrast between the clothing and skin tones to keep the overall frame crisp and clean. At the bottom, I included some quirky avatar collages for fun; though just for laughs, the playful contrast adds a delightful touch.

Before cosplaying Yuuka, I studied official artwork and other cosplayers' interpretations. When posing, I tried raising one hand slightly to touch the back of my head, which visually elongated body lines while guiding the viewer's focus to the face; another seated shot was a candid capture during a break, lending a grounded, slice-of-life feel. Although the studio's cold white walls and exposed cables revealed a bit of everyday realism, it actually complemented the spontaneous, casual posture in the photos.

When capturing a character who blends cool composure with youthful vitality, the harmony between costume and makeup is paramount. I experimented with various expressions and subtle shifts in gaze, hoping to convey more of the intrinsic charm of this Blue Archive character. Naturally, what I'm most satisfied with is the side hair styling on the wig—those delicate flips and layered tips took extensive flat-iron styling, and using a small fan during shooting recreated that gentle breeze-blown flutter from the original design. The addition of the Black stockings cosplay element further enhanced the versatility and polish of the entire look. The shooting process was quite demanding, but seeing the final retouched photos brought immense satisfaction.
