Just wrapping up and looking back at these few photos, the cold ambient light of the underground garage, paired with this blue long sword that comes with its own glowing effect in my hand, makes the atmosphere feel directly maxed out. The moment I put on this gear and donned the rabbit ears, I truly felt the weight of this outfit, and could better understand the persistence behind the phrase "safely guarding her pride as an older sister."
The choice of theme for this shoot was actually conceived for a long time. The pink shoulder-length wispy hair plus plush rabbit ears, paired with the clothing that leans heavily towards mecha and techwear styles, carries a strong visual contrast. To highlight the character's personality and this contrast, we intentionally avoided conventional bright environments when choosing the venue. This dim garage with a hint of industrial style, with black-and-yellow warning stripes on the pillars and the rough texture of the concrete, instead allows the high-saturation colors on the character's body to stand out more prominently.
A massive amount of thought was spent on the clothing details. As you can see from the pictures, the black mecha armor of the upper body and blue pieced cuffs, combined with the white cycling shorts and black thigh rings on the lower body, as well as that shiny, moderately thick pair of high-heeled boots, and those mecha glovesāthe entire outfit is highly sophisticated in color blocking and tailoring. Especially this pair of blue high-heeled mecha boots on my feet, the patent leather texture looks exceptionally good under the reflection of the flash. As for props, this glowing blue long sword is absolutely a divine tool for boosting frame highlights; during the shoot, the angle of the light source was well controlled, letting it reflect blue light onto the clothes and face, creating a tense yet slightly lazy atmosphere.
Honestly, shooting this kind of hardcore cosplay is more about finding the right state than striking perfect poses. In this set of photos, we experimented with several styles, such as a half-body close-up leaning against a pillar paired with a slightly casual and lazy expression, as well as a full-body sitting composition. The sitting one happens to fully display the leg lines, the mecha boots' silhouette, and the pairing with the light source in hand, which is precisely why I chose it as the cover. Overall, there were no forced attempts at highly complex combat movements; instead, it felt like a brief moment of catching one's breath after a fierce battle, possessing a sense of letting down one's guard while remaining sharp.
Speaking of portraying this character, it's not just about putting on a shell and calling it a day. The characters under the setting of The Thirteen Flame-Chasers all possess highly profound backstories and personalities. When adjusting my expressions and gaze, I kept silently pondering that determination and composure of being an "older sister" in my heart, not wanting her image to stay superficial. The entire shooting process went relatively smoothly; although crouching, sitting, and walking in high-heeled boots was somewhat exhausting, these were all minor hassles that had to be overcome for the final finished photos.
The photographer's lighting was also highly creative, utilizing the long fluorescent tubes at the top as backlighting, complemented by a bit of cool-toned face-fill light from the front, creating a beautiful rim light around the hair edges. Distinct textures also emerged across different materials on the clothing, such as the matte fabric and shiny boots. During post-production editing, we didn't do excessive touch-ups either, mainly unifying the light, shadow, and color inclination to retain that crisp yet bold keynote. Being able to turn in this substantial Cosplay photoshoot as my milestone report during the Anime Convention Tour Season gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I hope this gear and this dedication allow people who love this setting to feel my sincerity.
