[BB Cosplay] FGO's Purple Nurse Outfit: Cosplaying This Character Since Six Years Ago

Flipping through my album and seeing these photos from six years ago suddenly brought back a wave of emotion. Back then, I had just gotten into character BB not long ago, and my head was filled with ideas on how to bring her yandere yet hacker-esque nature to life through physical photoshoots. Six years ago, I shot five different BB looks in one go, and this nurse cosplay set was the most satisfying shoot at the time. Looking at them again today, I can still recall the studio temperature and the weight of those huge props.

The most painstaking part of this outfit was that massive pink syringe prop. Although it looks like a mere prop, holding it in hand was extremely heavy, and maintaining poses while controlling facial expressions heavily tested core strength. On the shoot day, I specifically chose a highly reflective tin foil backdrop and purple-pink LED grids, which produced a hazy yet dangerous lab atmosphere when lit. The wig was made of violet high-temperature fiber with hand-trimmed bangs and sideburns; since BB's hair is sleek and straight with a slight plastic sheen, I didn't add too much fluffiness, keeping a natural drape.

Speaking of styling details, the white nurse uniform paired with a red-cross hat, a cross choker, lace-trimmed over-the-knee white thigh-highs, and high heels formed a very clean color scheme. Yet under cool-toned lights with yellow and white pills scattered across the floor, it naturally created a sense of contrast in this Stockings cosplay set. Lowering the half-rim glasses slightly instantly brought out a "don't mess with me" aura. The photographer kept reminding me during the shoot that my eyes needed to reveal a state of "seemingly gentle but actually calculating." After all, BB's personality is rich in layers—not purely cute or fierce, but the calm composure of a high-IQ character.

My favorite from this set is the full-body shot holding the giant syringe (which is the cover photo), because it captured the exaggerated proportion between prop and body, while white stockings paired with heels lengthened leg proportions, giving the frame a fantastical sci-fi feel. The other shots of sitting on the floor playing with the syringe or shooting through wire mesh also expressed the mood of being trapped in an experimental environment.

Looking back at photos shot six years ago, there are definitely some naive aspects in lighting and makeup, but the urge to meticulously restore character details still moves me deeply. The lace edges of the outfit, the sheen of the wig strands, and even the seams on props were all refined bit by bit back then. Cosplay has never been just about changing clothes to me, but briefly living inside a small story of that character. Although these old photos are from long ago, flipping to them every time feels like a solid record. Since I was organizing my computer recently, I re-graded their color tones and posted them—partly as a closure for my past self.
