The shoot plan for this Fate/Grand Order Christmas Santa Alter was finally scheduled. Setting up the studio took quite a bit of effort—especially the piles of cotton on the floor. To create the texture of falling snow among clouds, we had to conceal the warm under-lighting thoroughly. The dark background paired with the Christmas tree lights brought out an overall tone that balanced cool and warm hues. For the outfit, I wore a dark blue dress paired with a red cape trimmed with fur, accented with a green Christmas bow at the neckline for a splash of contrasting color. The black broadsword was custom-made and quite heavy; holding it while posing was a real test of shoulder strength, and I had to adjust my grip angle several times before it looked natural. The black over-the-knee boots were tough to put on and take off, but the red stitching and button accents beautifully framed the leg silhouette, and paired with black stockings, they carried great texture in low light. The cosplay photography session was definitely physically demanding—the soft cotton ground made it tricky to keep my balance, and the warm lights heating up the heavy costume felt rather stuffy. The second full-body front shot took the longest to capture; to showcase the leg lines and the red patterns on the black boots, the photographer lay on the ground and adjusted exposure seven or eight times while making sure the under-lighting didn't leak out of frame. The prop crew dimmed the Christmas tree fairy lights so the visual focus rested entirely on the character. The large crystal ball and white bear plush in the background were also locked into position after careful framing. Furthermore, because black stockings reflect light easily, we tested lighting angles for a long time to ensure they looked sleek and natural without glare. The texture of the red outfit and black stockings under different light sources always makes me feel that a Christmas theme creates a wonderful contrasting charm on a cool and alluring character like Santa Alter. The white fur trim caught cotton easily, so I had to be careful throughout. The whole process was about coordinating with the costume, lighting, and props, testing everyone's patience. Post-processing mainly focused on controlling skirt folds and shadow transitions in skin tones while preserving the warm yellow ambient glow of the raw shot. Cosplaying this character was an absolute blast, and I hope to capture these special winter moments.
