These convention photos of Briar have finally been sorted out. To faithfully recreate this character, I spent a long time meticulously working on the costume and props during the preparation stage. Let's talk about the costume first: it mainly features a combination of leather and lace, with a classic black-and-red color scheme. The leather jacket has a fantastic waist-cinching effect, but the breathability of the material is genuinely a test at a convention venue; essentially, after a single shooting session, everything underneath is drenched in sweat. I tried my best to recreate details like the asymmetric metal buckle on the chest and the strap details on the legs, especially the open-toe strapped shoes—walking in them requires extra care to prevent the straps from coming loose.
Let's focus on this giant weapon: it is massive, almost as wide as my upper body. Although made of lightweight EVA material, achieving the weathered texture and red rune paintwork required numerous surface treatment processes. The convention venue was crowded, and wielding such a massive prop demanded great core strength. To showcase the character's aggressive and manic vibe, the photographer kept guiding me into claw-like poses. Kneeling on one knee and squatting positions tested physical strength the most, requiring balancing the center of gravity while keeping the arm lines taut and tense.
The wig is silver-white with a pink gradient, and the ring-shaped ahoge on top was styled using plenty of hairspray and wire; even a slight breeze at the convention venue meant I had to quickly fix it. In terms of makeup, to match the vampire setting, I wore greyish-white circle lenses, deepened the eyeshadow blending, and attached elf ears and fangs. When taking photos, I tried to show my teeth as much as possible, pairing it with a cool expression with slightly parted lips to better showcase the character's seductive yet eerie charm.
I am particularly satisfied with the finished photo taken on the step ladder. Sitting on the ladder not only showcased the leg lines but also allowed the giant weapon to wrap around me, resulting in a wonderfully full composition. The original photographer's lighting and shadow work were absolute perfection, flawlessly bringing out the texture of the leather jacket and the metallic luster of the props. Cosplaying a character with such heavy props is truly hard physical labor, but the moment I saw the finished photos, all the fatigue vanished completely.
