For this cosplay photoshoot at the Firefly ACG Expo, the overall setup with this pink-and-blue backdrop suited this Laffey cosplay styling wonderfully. The on-site setup featuring beach chairs, a pink beach buggy, lifebuoys, and volleyballs was full of summer vacation vibes, making the entire shooting process flow smoothly without feeling stiff or forced.

First, let's talk about how the costume felt to wear. This blue-and-white sailor-style suit used a lightweight, breathable fabric. Since convention halls are bustling with crowds and stage lights get quite warm, breathable material greatly enhances comfort throughout a long day. The drop-shoulder design and loose silhouette of the jacket, though causing the side ties to flutter around while walking, added a lovely dynamic feel to the photos. The light-blue striped skirt on the bottom, paired with white stockings (over-the-knee socks) and a blue garter strap on the thigh, visually elongated my proportions and captured the character's refreshing, lively nature.

As for the head accessories, the oversized bunny ears and blue-and-white bow headband carried notable presence and weight. To ensure the wig and headpiece wouldn't collapse in the humid, stuffy environment, I specifically secured them from multiple angles using bobby pins. The hair color is a light silvery-grey, matching the overall light-toned palette perfectly. The plush bunny slippers on my feet were another soulful highlight of this outfit; though walking on hard floors required care to avoid slipping, as a photo prop, they perfectly channeled Laffey's signature lazy, adorable charm.

As someone who frequently attends conventions, doing a themed cosplay photoshoot with specific set elements requires communicating lighting needs with the photographer in advance. Since this booth featured a primarily pink background, which easily swallows light on the subject, using reflectors for fill light was essential to keep skin tones even and makeup clean. When framing the shots, the photographer placed me at the visual center, utilizing chairs as foreground elements or scene anchors to keep the framing focused while enriching the composition with props.

During this full cosplay photoshoot, I tried several different poses. The heart-sign pose used for the cover nicely captured the character's demeanor: lightly resting my right hand on my knee and making a finger-heart with my left, paired with a slightly tilted head and eye contact with the camera, conveyed approachable sweetness while naturally showing off the skirt hem and white stockings. Other poses, such as clenching fists like cat paws, resting a cheek on one hand, or lightly tapping the chin, aimed to capture subtle expressions across various scenarios. The hardest part during shooting was expression management—maintaining a focused gaze before the camera while harmonizing with this 2D cute aesthetic, which required checking flash positioning repeatedly with the photographer to avoid red-eye or harsh glare.

This outfit was an absolute eye-catcher on-site, with many passersby praising the costume's fidelity and craftsmanship. In truth, what I enjoy most about each photoshoot isn't just the moment the final photos arrive, but the joy of connecting with photographers and fellow fans at the booth. While there are countless convention photos, finding a set design that matches the character's persona so well is truly rare. This blue-and-white color scheme of Laffey from Azur Lane created a refreshingly crisp visual presence amidst the colorful convention floor. From styling and prepping the outfit to bustling through the entire day and finalizing the edit, every step required genuine care. I'm so glad to have produced such a high-quality blue-and-white cosplay photoshoot, freezing the joy of the Firefly ACG Expo within this pink summer.
