Weaving through the crowds inside the ChinaJoy expo hall today, I wore this full Pink tactical style kit. The character concept leans heavily into sweet-and-edgy contrast, inspired by an aesthetic subversion I had long wanted to try. The pink tactical vest was embellished with generous white lace trims, fitted with internal structural supports to keep the silhouette crisp and dimensional. Around the waist, a matching modular tactical belt held several pouches—which, while holding very little, maxed out visual impact. The lower half paired a multi-tiered white lace tutu skirt whose dense ruffles swayed dynamically with every step. Over my legs were White stockings reaching past the knee, accented with a lace garter ring across the thigh; the compression knit was calibrated just right to flatter leg contours. The white chunky platform Mary Janes added height, though after walking around the expo all day, my soles were definitely aching. The lace-wrapped pink toy machine gun model was the undeniable centerpiece of the coordinate; to soften its aggressive lines, I even bound the barrel in delicate lace. To complete the look, I wore a plush Cat ears headband and prepared feline paw gloves. For makeup, to avoid sweat breaking down the base, I applied long-wearing foundation and layered the blush heavily to radiate energetic vitality.
Initially, my plan for the day was simply to browse the convention peacefully, check out a few favorite booths, and pick up some merchandise. As I walked, however, the clicking of camera shutters around me noticeably intensified. Before long, a photographer carrying two camera bodies approached and asked if we could shoot a quick set of ChinaJoy convention photos. I was momentarily taken aback, as CJ is packed with meticulously prepared cosplayers far more elaborate than myself. But since I had been stopped, I happily collaborated for a set. We moved outside beside a massive building framed by steel trusses and a glass curtain wall, finding a relatively open area. The daylight was intensely bright, casting crisp specular highlights across the pink gear and White stockings that yielded an exquisitely luminous, translucent texture.
The photographer shot with a Sony a7M5 body, alternating between the 85mm F1.4 GM II and 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lenses. The first sequence used the 85GM2 for half-body close-ups; its strong spatial compression paired with a wide aperture dissolved the background crowds and architecture into clean bokeh while preserving every fine detail of my facial profile, eyelashes, and hair strands. Switching to the 24-70GM2, we captured kinetic motion shots: single-leg hops, lifting one foot, and raising both hands in playful feline paw gestures. The wide end of the 24-70GM2 beautifully framed the sweeping arc of the flared skirt, cleanly recording the soft sheen of the White stockings in the sunlight and the intricate layers of ruffles. High-speed burst tracking heavily challenged the camera's autofocus, but the execution was seamless, yielding virtually zero missed frames.
The entire shoot wrapped in roughly twenty minutes. Standing in thirty-plus-degree heat outside the hall sweating through heavy gear while continuously engaging core muscles to maintain posture was undeniably taxing. Yet encountering a photographer who genuinely understood the aesthetic and dedicated heart to dynamic action captures was pure serendipity. Conventions are magical precisely for this spontaneity and unexpected delight—you never know who you will meet around the next corner, what stories will unfold, or what breathtaking frames will be captured. This impromptu session served as the perfect, immensely gratifying finale to my convention day.
