[Reimu Hakurei Cosplay] The Afternoon Slacking Routine in Gensokyo

Sitting on a comfortable tree branch in the woods for an afternoon, this kind of leisurely time is truly rare. Changing into this red and white dress and stepping into the sun-dappled woods is probably my understanding of life in Gensokyo. The forest is very quiet, with only the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves, making it even more pleasant than staying at the shrine.

The texture of this outfit is really wonderful; the wide sleeves and layered skirt, paired with the huge red and white bow at the top of my head, look very gorgeous but are actually a bit heavy to move around in, especially when climbing up this thick tree branch, where I need to be extra careful to avoid snagging the lace edges. Fortunately, the surface of the tree trunk chosen this time has moss, providing good friction, so once seated, it is actually steadier than standing.

The prop paired today is very distinctive; the top of the wand is tied with red flower decorations and delicate lace, with ribbons and white square stringed items like paper talismans hanging below. Although I didn't bring the classic gohei from the original work, this secondary setting style small prop is actually easier to pair with the forest scene. The way the white paper talisman strips sway in the wind carries a special charm of Touhou characters.

Photographer Dongzirou is excellent at capturing textures under natural light, shooting warm color tones that bring out the full atmosphere of the early autumn woods. The shooting process was actually very casual; basically, I just sat on the tree branch slacking off, occasionally adjusting my posture, such as fiddling with the prop in my hand or looking up to feel the sunlight leaking through the gaps in the leaves.

The few photos lying on the tree trunk are especially relaxing; when closing my eyes and emptying my mind, it feels as if I really only need to maintain the barrier every day and then drink tea and bask in the sun. Although sitting on a branch, balance still needs attention; some seemingly casual movements actually require my feet to secretly exert force to stabilize my center of gravity. However, compared to other cosplays that require intense movement or fighting scenes, this casual outdoor shoot is already very low-effort.

There are many layers of ruffles and lace on the clothes, so when sitting on the rough bark, I also have to make sure to spread the skirt hem properly to prevent it from getting dirty or torn by branches. Fortunately, the final results are very satisfying; the light and shadow hit the fabric, showing the texture of the gauze and woven materials very clearly. Many times, the daily life in Gensokyo just consists of endless tea and occasional incidents to handle. Choosing a quiet forest as the backdrop this time was to deliberately create a sense of peace far away from human society, since there is a forest around the Hakurei Shrine after all.

Although this red and white dress is different from the original shrine maiden outfit, I have to admit that this color scheme is highly photogenic in the woods. Today's cooperation with the photographer was seamless; we didn't deliberately strike combat poses but maximized the reproduction of that lazy, even somewhat sluggish state. As the shutter clicked, every frame froze in this exceptionally peaceful afternoon, perfectly matching my imagination, making it a highly successful slacking outdoor shoot experience.
