The focus of this photoshoot was to faithfully capture the costume's textures and the play of light and shadow, particularly the gradient stockings on the legs. To achieve a seamless transition from cyan to darker tones, fabrics of varying thicknesses were carefully tested and compared. During the shoot, a subtle bluish ambient light was used to complement the stockings' undertone, while the key light emphasized the boots and leg lines. Putting on the complete outfit was time-consuming—especially the hair styling, where specialized techniques were applied to maintain an airy feel and prevent the bangs from obscuring the eye makeup.
For the makeup, purplish-red colored contacts were chosen to match the character's eye color, and highlighter was applied to the eyeshadow to enhance depth and dimensionality. As for the accessories, the golden bow ribbon provided a striking warm-cool contrast against the base tones; an anti-reflective treatment was specifically applied before shooting to ensure the accessories looked premium.
The composition of this anime-style photo set was carefully planned. Sitting on a white cylinder fully displays the layered flow of the skirt, while raising the leg adds dynamic energy and breaks away from rigid, static poses. A clean, high-key paper backdrop was used so as not to distract from the subject. In post-processing, adjustments were focused on localized lighting, using masks to refine exposure across various areas—especially where light falls on the arms and toes—creating natural edges. With this piece presented for the Honkai: Star Rail Creator Incentive Program, the details leaned toward realism, avoiding over-smoothing to preserve the natural fabric textures and the breathability of the stockings.
Studio selection during the shoot was equally vital. A pure white background can easily cause the white shoes and skirt to blend in, so the shutter speed and aperture were tuned to establish an appropriate depth of field. To ensure the subject remains sharp even when zoomed in, the character was positioned dead center for focusing. Great care went into arranging the costume on the cylinder prop: the skirt needed to drape naturally without covering the footwear, while the sleeves were kept snug to show off arm details. Finally, tiny specks of dust on the boots were cleaned to keep the frame pristine, all to faithfully reproduce the texture and quality of this character design.
