Today, I brought Cyrene's cosplay outfit beneath the blooming cherry blossom trees. Honestly, I had been quite worried about how the lighting would mesh with the scene beforehand: this outfit features holographic reflective fabric, which can easily look cheap if the illumination isn't right. But once on site, I found that the afternoon natural sunlight striking the garments created a delicate rainbow sheen that harmonized flawlessly with Cyrene's dreamy yet cool demeanor.
The wig was the core focus of my preparation this time. A long Pink wig with teal-blue gradient tips required extensive styling in advance to achieve a natural, effortless texture. In particular, the two thick braids hid numerous bobby pins inside to hold their shape and prevent unraveling during the shoot. The beret on top and the blue-and-white hairpins were the soul of the look, while positioning the pointed elf ears required meticulous angle adjustments to ensure they looked organic in profile and three-quarter close-ups.
For makeup, I embraced a minimalist approach: pink-toned eyeshadow served as the base, complemented by subtle fine shimmer, primarily to evoke a tender yet slightly playful atmosphere. The lip shade was chosen as a natural soft pink. When capturing the shots holding the cards, I kept pondering how to express that moment. The cards were actually an impromptu prop; holding them in my hands, I wondered: if it were Cyrene, with what emotion would she look at these cards? Perhaps reminiscing, or perhaps bidding farewell. So I chose to lower my gaze, looking intently at the cards with a barely perceptible smile at the corners of my lips, set against the rustling of cherry branches stirred by the gentle spring breeze.
Regarding posing and composition, the photographer guided me to lean against the railing. The dark railing created a clean contrast against the pastel cherry blossom backdrop without distracting from the subject. Hand gestures were deliberately kept gentle, holding the cards low so the lens could better catch the layered textures of the wig and the necklace details.
The holographic jacket of this costume is actually quite thick and grew rather warm under prolonged sun exposure, but for the sake of the final image quality, I persevered. The belt and dark inner layer visually elongated body proportions. Throughout the shoot, what surprised me most was the background cherry blossoms—they were in such lush bloom that little post-processing was needed to create that vibrant spring ambiance.
This shoot was also an experiment in placing the character into an authentic, spring-infused environment, making me feel as if I had dissolved into this sea of pink. Taming those two long braids was indeed time-consuming. Because pink hair tends to look frizzy easily, I worked hair oil through the surface for quite a while before heading out to keep it sleek and glossy. That teal-blue gradient at the ends transitioned so naturally into the pink under sunlight, making it one of my favorite aspects of the styling. The necklace around my neck and the pink lanyard were key to elevating detail. Since the neckline is wide and the collarbone area could feel somewhat bare, these small accessories enriched the visual layout, delivering modern street flair while preserving the character's core identity.
Pose-wise, rather than forcing dramatic postures, I focused on quiet, everyday states—looking down at an item or standing serenely. This candid tranquility often resonates most deeply. There were quite a few passersby during the shoot, but I immersed myself completely into character, paying no heed to surrounding glances. As the gentle breeze swept through, a few petals drifted onto the holographic jacket with shimmering reflections; at that moment, all the exhausting effort felt truly worthwhile.
From preparation to wrap, this finished shoot took over half a month. From scouting locations and choosing fabrics to modifying the wig and final shutter clicks, I participated in every single step personally. Though tiring, the second I saw the final photos, all fatigue melted away. Petals drifting with the breeze forever froze this beautiful moment.
