At the Zhanjiang 6.20 Comic Convention venue, I put on this Sparkle outfit from Honkai: Star Rail. The design details of this costume are immense; the main red, white, and black color scheme combined with the cross-collar design and off-the-shoulder style creates a great sense of visual layering. The black rabbit plush at the waist paired with red and blue bows, along with the diamond lattice pattern on the skirt and the white-edged ruffles, overall presents a playful vibe reminiscent of a circus magician. On my head, I wore a small top hat with blue gems and white rabbit ears, along with long white twin-tails; handling the texture of the hair strands required extra care.
The ambient lighting at the convention venue that day was very chaotic, and the indoor background was quite cluttered. Relying solely on the overhead lights and reflectors on-site made it difficult to fully bring out the contour of the subject and the colors of the clothes. Therefore, this time I tried using AI lighting enhancement to assist with post-processing. The benefit of this method is that it can precisely simulate the feel of artificial light sources shining on the person, perfectly expressing the texture of the satin and fabric patchwork on the clothes without losing the lively atmosphere unique to the convention in the background. Against the dark background and carpet, the red, white, and black color palette actually formed a great contrast, making the subject pop out easily.
Carrying that huge V-sign prop around the venue was actually not easy. It looks very imposing, but in reality, it's a real test of arm strength. However, doing my best to recreate the character's demeanor and props is a big part of the fun of attending a comic convention. During the shoot, I tried a few different poses, from standing on one leg to holding the prop and making a heart shape, trying to stretch my body as much as possible to match the wide sleeves and skirt, presenting a lively yet slightly mysterious aura. Wearing full makeup all day was a bit exhausting, but seeing so many fellow anime lovers who share the same passion interacting and taking photos together at the venue was truly healing. I feel that cosplay is not just about imitating a character's appearance, but also about experiencing the atmosphere behind the character. Next, I will continue to optimize some prop details, like making the metallic texture of the staff look even more refined.
