[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane's Bride, Freezing the Moment of the Flapping White Veil

The moment the lights dimmed in the studio, my heartbeat actually steadied. Half-lying on the edge of the high platform, the skirt hem was swept up by the wind due to the movement, with toes pointed and hooked in those silver stiletto high heels, while the other leg bent at the knee to maintain balance, holding a blue-and-white bouquet in my hands. This is a commemoration of my Bride image during the Anime Convention Tour Season, and it is also the cosplay photoshoot that I have poured the most effort into recently.

Regarding the hairstyle, I chose a silver-gray short wig as the base, with fresh cyan-blue highlights on the bangs and hair ends. This blend of cool colors perfectly matches the unique energetic feel of this look. The white lace cat-ear headpiece on top of my head and the cascading transparent white veil outline a dreamlike silhouette against the dark background, greatly enhancing the completion of the overall styling.

The details of the costume itself can be said to be the soul of this cosplay. The strapless design beautifully reveals the shoulder and neck lines, while the white lace embroidery and precise waist-cinching cut on the upper body preserve the original playful setting while adding elegance under the Bride theme. The texture of the long gloves blends seamlessly with the tulle of the skirt hem, with each layer of sheer tulle folds displaying an elegant blue-and-white tone under the strong light. The hardest part of wearing this dress lies in combining the waist-cinching with the inner petticoat. Layered with multi-level irregular lace and tulle on the outside, if the waistline isn't raised high enough, the overall figure would look slightly bulky. To capture the lightweight feel of the flying skirt hem, I first wore safety undergarments, and then sequentially secured each layer of sheer tulle to my waist, ensuring that the folding lines of the skirt hem looked sufficiently natural when I raised my leg.

Especially the pair of silver sequined pointed stiletto sandals on my feet, paired with the ribbon bow at the ankles, was highly striking against the dark background. The pose of raising one leg upward demands extremely high ankle stability when wearing nearly ten-centimeter stilettos. To capture the curved line of the rising skirt hem, I had to communicate angles repeatedly with the photographer; just adjusting the skirt hem to a natural flying trajectory took numerous attempts. It is truly a technical job to keep my core tight, ensuring the leg is stretched perfectly straight while preventing the stacked skirt hem from blocking the foot details.

In terms of photography techniques, the high-contrast light and shadow gave this set of photos an excellent foundation. A few out-of-focus light spots scattered in the dark background created a minimalist sense of space. The main light source hit my body and the tulle skirt from the side-rear, directly shining through the originally hazy white veil, resulting in a visually white highlight overflow. That transparent, almost glowing effect in the photoshoot was actually determined by the light meter. If exposed correctly for my face, the skirt hem would look dull; if exposed for the skirt hem, my face would be overexposed. Therefore, we used a combination of artificial polarized light and constant light, maximizing the reflectivity of the tulle skirt while preserving the facial rim light.

The biggest challenge encountered during the shoot was actually maintaining the styling. In a nearly semi-suspended state, I not only had to maintain the leg-stretching movement and control my center of gravity, but also control my facial expression to keep a smile, all while my fingers had to steadily support the bouquet. Fortunately, my synergy with the photographer was perfect throughout the shoot; we instantly captured snapshots after every pose adjustment, finally leaving behind these few most natural moments that perfectly match the Bride atmosphere.

As a coser who tends to restore character traits, I believe Cheshire's Bride is not just about a gorgeous dress, but more importantly, that confident and bright demeanor. Therefore, during the shoot, I didn't deliberately force an exaggerated sweet smile, but instead presented a generous and immersed feeling. In post-production, we didn't process the environment too much, focusing mainly on brightening the texture of the tulle skirt and unifying the colors. The final photos were almost identical to the images I initially conceived in my mind, which is the greatest joy of seeing a satisfying set of pictures. This invested energy was not in vain, and I hope this styling can convey my love and persistence for this character and cosplay itself.
