[Nagasaki Soyo cosplay] BanG Dream! MyGO!!!!!: Vintage Dress on a Nonstop Rainy Day

When I first received this outfit for Nagasaki Soyo cosplay, my immediate impression was that the details were even richer than expected. The dusty pink palette accented with brown botanical prints gives off a vintage, gentle texture. To bring this look together, I prepped the wig well in advance: since the crown tends to fall flat, I crimped the roots for volume before setting it with spray, then trimmed the bangs into face-framing wisps. The two side-by-side hairpins were hand-glued using sapphire and pearl embellishments—small details like these dramatically enhance character recognition. For makeup, I wore vibrant blue lenses and chose a matte foundation, using soft pink tones for eyeshadow and blush to emphasize an airy, translucent eye look, softening facial contours to channel Soyo's blend of gentle warmth and cool detachment.

It rained continuously on the day of the shoot, creating an overcast sky that unexpectedly inspired the lighting scheme. Diffused natural light was exceptionally soft, casting no harsh shadows. I picked up a transparent umbrella whose black ribs added structural definition, pairing it with a floral bouquet of white daisies and lush greenery to enrich the framing. Because this Lolita fashion dress features an off-the-shoulder silhouette with ruffled trims along the collar and cuffs, poor posture could easily make the look appear bulky. In posing and framing, I focused on elongating my neck and shoulders, relying on backward glances and profile angles to flatter the garment's tailoring and depth. The lower hem features lace and print patchwork; when sitting down, I made sure to spread the skirt out so the brown waist ties and soft pleats fell naturally. Even without stockings this time, relying solely on body language and silhouette raised the bar for on-camera expressiveness. I coordinated closely with the photographer, refining subtle nuances like the grip on the flowers and the tension in holding the umbrella to keep every frame organic.

The clear umbrella proved to be the ultimate rainy day prop—water droplets clinging to the canopy lent an ethereal haze, which, against the dusty pink gown, let the cool ambiance elevate the character's presence. The entire shoot went smoothly, with light and props coming together seamlessly. Despite the damp air, the moody, cool tones granted the final images a rare, delicate atmosphere.
