Today's location shoot was thoroughly prepared, bringing out this Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation themed Itasha directly for the shoot. I'm wearing the full Roxy cosplay outfit, featuring blue-and-white color matching combined with a brownish-yellow cape, giving it plenty of layering. The wig is a light blue with a gradient feel; to achieve that slightly curled texture of the character, I spent over an hour last night trimming and styling it. The fluffy animal ears on top of my head are fixed to the wig cap with hairpins, requiring extra care when wearing them to ensure they wouldn't shift around during the shooting process. I also spent a long time working on the details of the costume: the black-and-white bowtie on the chest, the subtle patterns on the fabric, and the cuff designs all had to reveal a three-dimensional outline under the light.
The main shooting prop today is the white magician's staff in my hand. Made of rigid material with black geometric textures on the grip, it feels quite authentic and weighty when held. To make the frame richer, I also brought an identical chibi plush doll matching this outfit. At the beginning, we took a few photos sitting on the ground, holding the doll in my arms or resting my chin on one hand. The photographer kept praising my state, saying it created a wonderful echo with the Roxy graphic painted on the car body. The Itasha's body wrap covers a large area, and its color scheme matches my outfit almost identically; that strong visual unity was extremely interesting.
Lighting and composition are paramount for outdoor shoots. Today's light was relatively soft without overly harsh highlights. I specifically requested a set of photos lying next to the car door, holding the staff in one hand and resting my chin in the other while looking into the camera lens, forming a three-dimensional visual contrast with the flat graphics on the car body. The photographer utilized the lines of the car door for perspective, blending me completely into that 2D world. Although sitting on the ground in this outfit for a long time while maintaining a relaxed posture was tiring, seeing the final photo results made it all worthwhile.
Honestly, moving around outdoors in this outfit isn't particularly convenient, especially with the arm sleeves and cape, which tend to shift if movements are too large. But since I'm cosplaying, maintaining the character's accuracy and vibe is the most important thing. From makeup and wigs to prop matching, although the whole preparation process was tedious, it was deeply enjoyable. Today's shoot wrapped up smoothly; the weather and venue were both super supportive, and the Itasha owner was very cooperative. It was a deeply satisfying creative experience.
