To recreate that crisp, well-layered look seen in photos, I even added a thin inner lining to prevent the shoulder line from collapsing.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was exceptionally flattering. The window behind me let through warm reddish light, creating a vivid cool-versus-warm contrast against the cool-toned blue-and-white uniform. Holding the gold-striped witch hat in my hands was actually a spontaneous gesture during test shots, but we soon realized this pose highlighted the layered sleeves and chest details beautifully. When shooting, the photographer asked me to angle my body slightly rather than staring dead-on into the camera, which lent my gaze a touch of aloof, contemplative distance. Between takes, we experimented with numerous angles. Because the upper garment is relatively loose, poor posture could easily make it look bulky. When standing, I deliberately kept my shoulders open, letting one arm hang naturally while holding the hat with the other—this both elongated the upper body line and made the waist appear slimmer. The stone wall and windows in the background carried a delightfully antique air, nicely balancing the clean modern feel of the tailored costume. The skirt features a scalloped hem trimmed with tiny rivets; while visually striking, sitting or crouching outdoors was quite impractical, forcing me to stand continuously until my calves ached. Shooting this look was undeniably tiring—with a short skirt and abundant crisscrossing straps, any large movement required tidying up again. Yet seeing the final results made all the meticulous preparation feel completely worthwhile.
The outdoor location that day was imbued with rustic vintage elements—mottled stone walls and diamond-patterned lattice windows blended magically with the scholarly aura of the uniform.
