"Clouds come and go, over branches of snow." Struggling to come up with a caption, I simply borrowed this poetic verse to post this casual flower-viewing photo set. This time, I cosplayed Dan Feng from Honkai: Star Rail, fulfilling my dream of portraying a cool, aloof, and ethereal gentleman.
Let's talk about the gear first. The costume's fabric is quite substantial; the white outer robe combined with deep blue damask patterns shows rich, elegant dimensionality under natural daylight. I spent quite some time fine-tuning the placement of the blue gem accessory on the chest, striving for exact alignment with the official character art. The biggest headache was undeniably the pair of white dragon horns on my head—firmly anchored onto the wig base using hairnets and numerous bobby pins. The center of gravity was slightly off-balance, and I was constantly worried they might tumble during the shoot. The pointed elf ears were blended seamlessly into my skin tone using scar wax along the edges; paired with the long, straight black wig, they immediately brought forth that mystical, non-human otherworldly aura. For gloves, I chose semi-sheer black gauze, which was somewhat slippery and made holding fragile flower branches a bit tricky.
For makeup, to complement the outfit's icy aloofness, the eye makeup was drawn sharply. Cool-toned eyeshadow was swept across to deepen the outer corners, and the eyeliner was slightly elongated. Combined with colored contacts and subtle facial contouring to accentuate bone structure, it achieved that piercing, frigid gaze. I spent nearly an hour trimming and layering the bangs of the wig, delicately applying highlight and shadow powders, while the subtle ahoge atop the head remained the indispensable soul of the look.
The photoshoot setting was quite straightforward, relying primarily on lush greenery and clusters of white blossoms as foreground framing. To resonate with the verse, I specifically gathered a few sprigs with white flowers to hold in hand. Bright high-key lighting coupled with soft-focus diffusion infused the imagery with an ethereal quality. To prevent the gaze from appearing vacant, I focused on a focal point just off-camera, lifting my chin slightly as if lost in contemplation over the petals.
Speaking of which, after enjoying the blossoms, I honestly felt like having a massive blowout with the Preceptors—those old fogies are far too controlling on regular days! Overall, the shoot was very relaxed, aside from the dense foliage occasionally snagging the long wig. In post-production, since the original exposures were already bright enough, I mainly subdued excess green color cast reflections to keep skin tones and the white fabric pristine, finishing with a delicate cool-toned filter. This was just a casual set, and I hope it conveys the High Elder's tranquil, detached demeanor.
