Sharing the afternoon tea party of Cyrene from Honkai: Star Rail with everyone. This look took a lot of thought from the preparation stage, especially wanting to express that sense of lightness as if being in a flower field. The silver-and-white headpiece and gradient long hair, paired with the pure white gown, all emphasize the character's inherently soft and beautiful traits. When setting up the real-life scene for the flower field landscaping, I specially chose this glass flower house with a vintage European wooden door. The flowers were also meticulously selected; the pink, blue, and white blossoms perfectly match Cyrene's color scheme. The weather on the shooting day was just right, with light piercing through the glass to form beams in the airāthis is absolutely the most pleasant surprise of natural light in cosplay photography. To capture these fleeting moments of light, we basically relied on natural light for the shoot, without using too many artificial light sources to interfere. This way, the resulting skin texture and the translucency of the hair strands look much more natural.
The first shot features holding European-style teaware, preserving Cyrene's gentle and elegant qualities. The tulle of the skirt utilizes a double-layer structure, which avoids looking bloated and instead creates beautiful lines while sitting. For this set of works, I specially did multiple fittings and adjusted the waist pattern to better fit the character's design. There was also a little episode during the shoot: when sitting on the floor, the trailing skirt spread across a large area, requiring a bouquet as the foreground to soften the large negative space in the frame. Fortunately, the on-site props were abundant enough to make the composition much tighter.
In fact, every high-quality cosplay is the result of early preparation and on-site improvisation, and the authentic experience has given me a deeper understanding of the character's charm. Speaking of trimming the wig, to achieve a fluffy feel, I created many layers of airy styling to enhance the girly style. The balcony of the flower house is clear and open; pushing open the door reveals distant mountains. Although this set of photos was taken indoors, we actually prepared many outdoor options. Later, considering that the skirt's train could easily get dirty, we decisively chose indoors, which is where one needs to make trade-offs when planning a cosplay project. In terms of the final style, I prefer a sense of "breathing" rather than rigid, staged poses, trying instead to capture that dynamic instantāsuch as the strands of hair lifting when turning around, or the relaxed gaze when sitting quietly. All of these require maintaining an excellent state during the shoot. I was intensively outputting energy for nearly four hours that day, but thankfully, the final presentation of the results is satisfying. This kind of flower-themed setup provides a powerful boost when recreating a fantasy-colored work like Honkai: Star Rail, making it feel as if the character truly exists in a real-world garden. In my future creations, I still hope to challenge more characters with complex settings and atmospheres, recording their stories through imagery via cosplay photography.
