Sharing my Castorice cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail today. This set was actually captured back in spring when the tulips and wisteria were in peak bloom. Because these are archival shots, bringing them out for a fresh grade was all about exploring two contrasting atmospheres. In Photo 1 among the tulips, the sunlight was blazing and the pink petals carried intense saturation; during color grading, I dialed down the background exposure while lifting skin tones to foster a warm, gentle spring glow. In Photo 2 under the wisteria trellis, the cascading low-saturation purples resonated harmoniously with Castorice's lavender wig, so I graded toward a cool-toned, dreamlike mood, utilizing split-toning to preserve petal textures and clean out chromatic clutter so the visual focus locked onto the character.
As a cosplayer, outdoor location shoots demand tackling countless logistical factors. Castorice's styling is brimming with intricate touches: the dark curved horns atop her head, purple gems, and layered floral-butterfly hairpieces had to be anchored firmly to the wig with bobby pins to keep from shifting during movement. The gradient purple opera gloves along her arms, lace-up wrist ribbons, and the prominent pink blossom over the bodice each cast distinct sheens under natural daylight. To channel her disposition, I wore purple contact lenses with a sheer, dewy foundation and glass-finish lip gloss. Securing the elf ears required careful adjustment to guarantee a seamless silhouette from both profile and front-facing angles.
Regarding the overall costume presentation, Photo 2 captured a subtle over-the-shoulder glance. This pose not only showcases the multi-tiered patchwork construction of the skirt, but also frames the details of the white tights and strappy shoes while accentuating the collarbone and waistline. The fitted purple sleeves and white tights create an engaging visual dialogue, with butterfly embellishments along the cuffs and hem adding spirited charm. It was quite breezy on set; to catch the illusion of a butterfly resting upon my hand and the skirt billowing into an organic arc, we repeatedly repositioned before the wisteria arbor to ensure the folds of the skirt and the clean lines of the tights were captured in frame.
In the story, Castorice is perpetually occupied, yet in this ocean of flowers, I wanted to grant her a momentary respite of serenity. The outfit is intricate to wear, requiring immense care while moving around branches to keep the skirt and delicate stockings from snagging. For posing, I favored slow, extended arm movements to preserve the garment's innate delicacy, avoiding abrasive gestures. The makeup, prop styling, and updated color grading were all dedicated to honoring her canon aura—serving as my personal visual tribute to her tireless presence in the collaboration story.
