[Tanga Ibuki cosplay] A Well-Behaved, Cute Moment from Blue Archive

This shoot features Tanga Ibuki from Blue Archive. To faithfully match the character design, I styled a long, straight blonde wig accented with white-trimmed black bows and her signature little horns on top. Paired with hazel-gold contact lenses, accentuated eyelashes, and generous pink blush, the styling aimed to channel her endearing, well-behaved charm. The wardrobe consists of the canonical white shirt, blue pinafore dress, and red bow tie.

Because space inside the vehicle was limited, I deliberately chose a window seat with ample natural light to steer clear of messy lighting reflections. This series focuses on capturing these effortless everyday moments, and experimenting with poses inside a car was surprisingly fun. While the chin-resting gesture in the first photo was a bit tricky angle-wise, the peace sign in the second photo yielded a more centered composition, showcasing facial contours and hair styling much more completely, which made it the obvious choice for the cover.

To find an unforced, natural expression that looks just like everyday life, I tested numerous camera angles. Holding the phone too high easily distorts facial proportions, while shooting too low results in an awkward perspective; an angle tilted slightly upward paired with the right eyeline worked best. For makeup, I paid special attention to defining the lower lash line and aegyosal, which tightens facial proportions and enhances that 2D anime feel. Styling the wig required real patience—ensuring the bangs rested right above the eyes without obstructing vision, while letting the straight locks on both sides drape naturally to reveal a hint of the shoulder line. The hair bows had to be re-pinned multiple times to keep them straight, as any slight head tilt can cause hair accessories to slip.

The beauty of shooting inside a car lies in the soft, diffused lighting, which makes the final shots look remarkably clean. Lighter clothing palettes always pop with richer chromatic depth against dark car interiors. From hair and makeup to the final shutter click took quite some time, but I eventually settled into a relaxed, comfortable groove. The core goal was to portray the character's pure, obedient side, so the overall mood leaned toward a crisp, bright aesthetic. Although the setting was ordinary, attention to minute details elevated the photographic texture.

Every combination of styling and makeup deserves proper documentation—that is truly the most cherished part of every shoot. Embodying a persona so distinct from my everyday self is the essence of why cosplay is so fulfilling. This session wrapped up smoothly and granted me valuable experience in capturing the subtle expressions of such Cute archetypes.
