For this Asuma Toki shoot, just adjusting this patent leather Bunny girl costume took quite a lot of time. The material of the blue bodysuit is very unique with exceptional gloss, yet simultaneously quite delicate. The most critical precaution during shooting was preventing fingerprints and scratches; even a slight crease would detract from its reflective shine, so I kept reminding myself throughout to maintain my posture and minimize unnecessary movements. To faithfully match the character design, the headpiece featured custom mechanical bunny ears with a blue glowing halo, which had some weight to it, requiring me to balance my center of gravity carefully to prevent it from sliding off. The wig was carefully chosen straight long blonde hair, trimmed with substantial volume to flatter the face shape. The white shirt collar and light blue bow tie served as the crowning touch of the overall styling, softening the rigidness of patent leather with a hint of refined elegance. White stockings paired with navy pointed-toe high heels visually elongated leg proportions, with the blue bow details on both thighs faithfully recreating the original illustration design.
The studio set was arranged into a neon-drenched bar, perfect for a club-style photoshoot. The background was decked with a liquor shelf and various bottles; to complement this cyberpunk vibe, the photographer put enormous effort into lighting. Blue LED light strips illuminated the patent leather, creating gorgeous diffuse highlights, while cool-toned rim lighting was added to accentuate the fabric's rich texture. For the bottle held in my hand, we swapped through multiple angles—avoiding harsh reflections off the glass while ensuring even illumination across my face—before finally locking in the current composition. The glasses and chips on the table, along with the retro television and white briefcase, were all included to infuse storytelling into the frame. Sitting on the bar stool was honestly quite a test for core strength: controlling the angle of crossed legs had to look relaxed while accentuating body lines. The forward-leaning posture on the sofa was designed to heighten interactivity with the camera, requiring repeated practice to nail the focal point of my gaze.
The overall shooting atmosphere was intensely focused, as every single shot required balancing ambient lighting, costume textures, and character state. The outfit is exceptionally form-fitting, meaning movements had to remain restrained—especially when sitting on leather couches, constantly watching out for creases. Although the color palette consists purely of blue and white, it stood out brilliantly in the dark-toned environment, delivering powerful visual impact. Sorting through props and wardrobe after the shoot, I found that patent leather is very difficult to restore once creased, which is definitely valuable experience for the future. Being able to vividly capture Asuma Toki's demeanor within a bar atmosphere made all the preparation feel completely worthwhile.
