This convention floor photoshoot of Honkai Impact 3rd's Theresa (Lunar Vow: Crimson Love) in her 'Crimson Bloom Fragrance' outfit fulfilled a personal wish. The lighting conditions inside the venue were challenging: the overhead lighting was rather flat, so to capture the textural depth of the garment, I sought out walkways where lateral natural light filtered through. The costume is rich in detail; the red-and-white gossamer chiffon cloak easily blows out under harsh illumination, requiring continuous coordination with the photographer to recalibrate angles and preserve both the golden embroidery on the white capelet and the translucent vibrance of the red lining. Styling the wig was equally meticulous: the long white tresses required a delicate pink-purple gradient toward the tips, while the golden headdresses and crimson floral ornaments had to be anchored securely to avoid shifting during strides. To harmonize with the crimson bloom theme, I opted for crimson contact lenses and deepened the reddish eye shadow blending, aiming to convey the character's dignified elegance alongside a subtle, keen resolve in her gaze.
When posing, I avoided broad, dramatic movements, focusing instead on subtle hand articulation and the nuance of my gaze. Examples include resting a hand lightly over the chest or tilting the head slightly to let hair tendrils cascade naturally. The dark lace undergarment and chest cut-outs are form-fitting; paired with the high-slit skirt and Black stockings, I explored poses that flattered body proportions while honoring the character's original poise. Despite numerous onlookers at the convention, I immersed myself in the persona, tuning out ambient noise to lock onto the camera.
During post-processing, I refrained from excessive skin-smoothing to preserve authentic skin textures and makeup finishes, focusing instead on softening the background and incorporating falling red petals and bokeh particle effects. Being convention floor captures, background clutter was inevitable; through careful depth of field and lighting adjustments, distracting venue elements were largely suppressed, allowing the subject's silhouette and fabric textures to emerge crisply. From wardrobe preparation to on-site shooting and color grading, the journey was physically demanding, yet seeing the finished cuts made every bit of effort worthwhile.
