[Tamamo no Mae cosplay] Fox Maiden at the Summer Anime Convention: Stage Time in Black-Gold and Cyan Palettes

For these Tamamo no Mae 'New Lotus' convention photos, the visual emphasis centered on color coordination and clean silhouettes. Styling the long pink wig took considerable time to ensure the curls at the ends flowed naturally without appearing dry under indoor lighting. For makeup, the focus was placed on striking contact lenses and dark eyeliner paired with red lips, giving my complexion a vibrant boost that reflects Tamamo no Mae's playful yet refined character. The black-and-gold strapping serves as the core of this outfit; its clean lines create a slimming look on camera, while the grayish-blue and cyan ruffled sleeves add rich dimensional layering.

With heavy foot traffic across the anime convention, finding a relatively uncluttered backdrop was crucial. Special thanks to photographer Xiaohei, who patiently helped balance the lighting—leveraging reflective flooring and cool natural light from the windows to establish a moody blue ambient tone that resonated with the cyan trims of the skirt. Regarding posing direction, we explored various angles. The side-seated pose with extended legs aimed to maximize the sleek texture of the black over-the-knee stockings paired with platform leather shoes, elongating leg proportions for an ideal cover shot. Meanwhile, the kneeling poses and hand gestures focused on showcasing the intricate ruffle details along the sleeves and the fluffy tail behind me. The airy fox ears and voluminous tail look best with subtle motion, so I made sure to accentuate graceful curves through the head and waist.

To authentically embody the character beyond hair and accessories, I introduced subtle variations in facial expression—alternating between locking direct gaze onto the lens, softening my focus into a gentle daydream, or lightly brushing my fingers against the neck ornament. Conventions are noisy, but staying focused is essential; slipping quickly into character is what gives photos narrative depth. The structured garment fabric retained its crisp shape even during dynamic movements, boosting my confidence while posing. The set features nine photos in total. Post-processing retained natural skin textures without excessive airbrushing, instead accentuating the layered depth of cool color tones. Cosplaying this look was a delightful experience that resonated with my mood throughout.
