[Justina Gu cosplay] NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Justina Gu Meets A2: Leather Outfit Visual Clash

Today's photo shoot is finally wrapped up. Honestly, when I first received the concept combining Justina Gu and A2, I was a bit hesitant. The visual clash between Justina Gu's white hair and A2's black outfit is intensely striking, but photographer Qing narrate convinced me that contrasting light and shadow could bring it to life.

When I first got my hands on the costume, my immediate reaction was how heavy it felt. Although this black leather outfit looks form-fitting, wearing it genuinely tested my physique because it lacked any stretch whatsoever. The pose in Photo 3—lifting one leg with my torso tilted back—looks graceful on camera, but it required immense effort from my ankles and core just to balance without swaying.

For the wig, I selected long straight silver-white hair and trimmed the bangs according to Justina Gu's character design. In the close-up in Photo 1, you can clearly see my bright blue contacts, chosen specifically to echo the character's icy essence. Although original settings have their own eye colors, donning these vivid blue contacts paired with blush and cool fair foundation brought out the character's aloof chill immediately.

The trickiest part during shooting was the lighting. Without proper lighting, black leather turns into an unreadable dark blob on camera. Qing narrate set up two cool-toned lights in the studio; the rim light coming from the side sculpted the leather contours cleanly, lending a fierce sense of strength to the hand wielding the sword. Photo 2 was arranged to echo in-game promotional posters; to recreate that mood, I carefully adjusted the angle of the sword and aligned the shoulder straps so broad movements wouldn't snap them.

The cut-out design on this leather attire is truly a highlight—especially the geometric cuts along the waist and legs, preventing the monochrome styling from feeling dull. To complement such a rugged, edgy style, I wore over-the-knee boots. While walking in them was quite clumsy, they sculpted very sleek, uninterrupted leg lines on camera. There is quite a contrast in texture between Photos 1 and 3: Photo 1 focuses heavily on facial emotion and intensity of gaze, whereas Photo 3 delivers a complete physical silhouette. For Photo 3, I actually rotated through seven or eight angles before landing on this final shot. Long black leather gloves look stunning, but gripping the hilt made them slippery, requiring firm grip pressure—this slight over-exertion in the hand details added an authentic touch of battle grit. Because the color scheme is monochromatic, I focused on tactile variations in fabric textures: the sheen of the top, the matte finish of the shorts, and the subtle creases of the gloves, all crisply layered under multiple light sources.

The prop sword was modeled after the game's weaponry, measuring around 1.2 meters with yellow decorative accents. Holding it with one hand was surprisingly heavy; combined with holding a suspended kick pose, my thigh muscles were practically trembling. To project an aura of effortless composure, I acted out a scenario in my head, imagining I had just emerged from fierce combat so that the mix of battle fatigue and sharp focus would flow naturally into my gaze. Aiming for visual perfection, we continually adjusted camera setups in the studio. Since I have a smaller frame, shoulder padding was inserted inside the leather to preserve its crisp structure and keep the shoulder lines straight, helping match the posture seen in promotional posters from a side profile.

Makeup required considerable attention as well. A2 is depicted with pale skin, so I applied foundation one shade lighter than usual, complemented by heavy contouring to carve out sharp facial angles. The lips were kept in a natural matte tone to avoid stealing focus from the eyes. Instead of broad eyeshadow blending, I deepened the outer corners and elongated the lashes to lend a sharper edge to my gaze.

In cosplay, every glamorous shot hides tedious adjustments and physical exertion behind the scenes. Yet seeing how this look materialized before the lens made every bit of effort worth it. Whether it was the rich texture of the black leather or the decisive grace of wielding the blade, both left a vivid mark in these final photographs.
