For this Remielle styling, a lot of effort went into material contrast during the preparatory stages. The leather outfit was custom-made; to present that form-fitting and reflective texture, relatively harsh lighting was deliberately used during the shoot. The wig was trimmed into a clean blunt-bangs short hairstyle, and the color was chosen with a very high saturation pink, forming a strong contrast with the overall dark-themed background. Accompanied by light-colored contact lenses and a cooler eye makeup look, the elf ears were custom-made silicone pieces that fit very comfortably when worn.
The wing prop was definitely the highlight of this photoshoot. The black feathers underwent special treatment to achieve that shimmering, iridescent polarized effect. However, the wings are quite heavy, and wearing them on my back required keeping my spine straight at all times to maintain a beautiful spread curve. During the shoot, it turned out that the feather arrangement photographs exceptionally well under backlight, clearly revealing the varying shades of blue gradient—a point I valued greatly when selecting photos in post-processing.
Regarding the set design, the red velvet high-back chair came with a built-in retro gothic filter, and the black carvings and rivets on the edges had great texture. Scattered around were red roses, black iron birdcages, and intentionally distressed dead branches and iron chains. To echo the feeling of falling feathers, some black feathers were also manually scattered on the ground. To capture the mystical vibe of swirling smoke, smoke cakes were used on site.
In terms of pose design, the goal was mainly to highlight the character's calculated yet slightly lazy personality. A crossed-leg sitting posture was core; this pose not only visually elongated the leg lines, but also perfectly showcased the texture of the translucent black stockings along with the leg strap adorned with metal star decorations. To keep the visual center focused, I tried to place my hands near my chin or neck, guiding the viewer's gaze toward the face. Although the tight leather outfit was stuffy, its tailoring was indeed top-notch, and paired with black glossy high heels, the overall styling achieved a very high level of completion.
The lighting engineer used a combination of primary and secondary lights this time; the side light wonderfully outlined the edges of the leather outfit and the contour of the bridge of the nose, while the backlight completely illuminated the details of the pink hair and blue feathers. This photo set didn't actually undergo exaggerated liquefaction; main efforts were put into color grading and atmosphere rendering, preserving the authentic skin texture while intensifying the collision of red, black, and blue colors. From the fitting session to the actual shoot, although constantly wearing the heavy wings was physically exhausting, seeing the final photo results, the dark tension was truly maxed out.
