Lying on this grass field filled with yellow wildflowers, I finally found a bit of actual substance belonging to summer. This time, I did a cosplay of Reze from Chainsaw Man, which is a slice-of-life style that I've wanted to try for a long time. Before heading out for the summer location shoot, I specifically mapped out the character's positioning—that seemingly plain yet lively everyday slice-of-life feel is the core expression of this photo set.

Let's talk about the coordination of this look first. The white short-sleeved shirt serves as the main body, decorated with a black bowtie at the collar, while the lower body features black shorts and over-the-knee black sheer socks. To match the character's common outing attire in the original work, I also specially paired it with a pair of dark-colored vintage lace-up leather shoes. When truly putting on this outfit and standing in the natural outdoor grass, that youthful and energetic school vibe colliding with nature appears exceptionally harmonious. The purple wig took quite a bit of thought in this styling; a loose bun was tied at the top of the head while preserving the original long hair texture, leaving some sideburns on both sides to frame the face, maintaining a natural flow when the wind blows without looking overly stiff or unnatural.

The sunlight on the day of the shoot was wonderful, with plants growing wildly. When I lay down, I could clearly feel the tactile sensation of the tiny blades of grass poking through my skin and socks. Photographer @MuBai is extremely adept at capturing these relaxed and casual everyday moments. When guiding the poses, we intentionally avoided those overly strained, forced looks. For example, in the first set of movements, I turned my body sideways, gently resting one hand as a fist near my cheek, with my head slightly lowered and eyes closed in rest. This pose, resembling a brief afternoon nap, not only beautifully presents the submissive and gentle side of the character but also sketches out the extended lines of the body through the angles of light and shadow.

Another set of actions, lying in the flowers with open arms, was to express a sense of delight in dissolving into nature. The background field of yellow flowers, processed with a large aperture blur, transformed into massive bright patches of color that interwove with the lush green grass in the foreground, forming a highly rich visual effect. For the entire photo set, we used a low-saturation yet highly translucent color grading scheme, restoring the texture under actual sunlight as much as possible to make the skin tone look clear and rosy, while also preserving a bit of the natural shadow transitions from the original shots.

Actually, for this kind of slice-of-life character appearance, what matters most is often not how gorgeous the outward makeup is, but rather how to convey the character's intrinsic temperament through clothing creases, the subtle curves of the hair, and relaxed facial expressions. Every time I shoot outdoors, I feel it's an opportunity to detach myself from reality. When lying in the flowers, I could even smell that dry and warm scent emitted by the green grass after being baked by the sun. This shooting process was exceptionally relaxed, without any need to forcefully battle the intense sunlight; instead, we borrowed the light of the summer afternoon to capture that natural laziness via beautiful anime-style photography.

This immersive shooting experience gave me a deeper understanding of the character Reze. Stripping away those grand narratives and returning to life itself, she is actually just a girl who would peacefully take a nap in the grass on a summer afternoon. Therefore, despite the various clamors of the outside world, at this moment, I only belong to this summer filled with blooming yellow flowers. No complex staging is required, nor excessive decorations; this is exactly the kind of everyday fragment of Reze I wanted to capture.
