[Night Street Cat-Ear Maid Outfit, A Convention Snapshot with a Prop Gun]

For the night session of this CPGZ convention, I specially chose this classic black-and-white maid outfit, paired with silver-gray double braided pigtails and cat ears with a pink lining. The overall look shows a very soft texture under the night lights. To fit the character's combat-oriented temperament, I prepared this wooden long gun as a prop. Holding it in hand or placing it by my side during the shoot definitely adds a strong sense of scenario. The combination of white stockings and patent leather shoes is also a classic pairing for a maid outfit. When walking along stone steps and the edges of lawns, the lace trim of the skirt and the draped layering of the black apron look very natural. When shooting this set of photos, we deliberately picked a relatively less crowded neighborhood and utilized the warm streetlights along the road and light sources from distant buildings as background lighting. This made the facial lighting more three-dimensional and soft while avoiding the cluttered crowd backgrounds inside the convention halls. Squatting and sitting poses make it very easy to showcase the puffiness of the skirt, especially the shot where I sat on a suitcase with the prop gun placed horizontally across. With the body's center of gravity lowered, the camera's low angle just happened to elongate the leg lines while highlighting the details of the cat ears and braided hair. Night photography for cosplay is actually a real test of controlling live lighting. Sometimes, just slightly adjusting the standing angle to let the side backlighting outline the edges of the hair can significantly enhance the translucent quality of the frame. The fabric of this costume has a certain stiffness, so even when sitting on the steps, the skirt can maintain a great shape. Storing and placing props is also a detail that requires attention during on-site shooting; one must be careful to avoid bumping the long gun when handling it outdoors. Adjusting details like the wig and bowtie during breaks makes the final results look much more exquisite. Overall, this outdoor night shoot attempt with the maid outfit found a relatively quiet sense of atmosphere away from the bustle of the convention, and I truly enjoyed this immersive shooting process.
