[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Serene Atmosphere During Makeup Test

The core focus of this makeup test was capturing Castorice's serene yet fantasy-infused temperament; from outfit selection to makeup nuances, everything revolved around this keynote.

To align with the character lore in Honkai: Star Rail, the costume's fabric and palette underwent meticulous consideration. A spliced palette of pure white and deep purple was primarily chosen—the purple leaning not toward vivid saturation, but rather a muted, cool greyish undertone that harmonizes with the character's overall visual design. The gradient wig blending light purple and silver-white exhibits a natural, seamless transition under lighting, which, combined with the signature Elf ears accessories, amplifies an otherworldly, ethereal fantasy charm.

Eye makeup focused on highlight brightening beneath the eyes and delicate reddish blending along the corners, complemented by a warm-toned dark lip. This not only added depth to the gaze, but also balanced the cool keynote of the outfit, ensuring the face retained distinct three-dimensional definition even in dimmer shooting conditions. The sheen of the wig strands and the satiny reflection of the fabric were clearly differentiated through dedicated lighting adjustments on set.

Costume details are equally noteworthy. The purple bow at the neckline, 3D pink and white floral accents on the chest, and large petal applique patches along the skirt hem effectively enhance visual layering and richness. The most eye-catching feature is the cutout design across the waist and back, which beautifully outlines the neck, shoulders, and waist under side-backlighting.

Hand accessories consist of long purple gloves paired with white bracers and ribbons along the forearms, with dimensional purple butterfly ornaments extending from the elbows along the outer arms. These subtle details establish the character's underlying motifs. The slender black headband atop the crown, adorned with pink-and-white blossoms, securely holds the wig while adding a touch of delicate fragility.

A pure black backdrop was specifically selected for this shoot, paired with side-backlighting and localized cool-blue ambient light. The black backdrop eliminated visual clutter, focusing the viewer's gaze entirely onto the subject. The blue rim lighting grazing the edges of the hair and skirt hem created a cool-warm contrast with the white key light, evoking a surreal, nocturnal atmosphere.

During the shoot, the book prop featured in Photo 4 was an added accessory. Posing with a backward glance while holding the book made the posture feel much more organic, avoiding the stiffness of a static stance while gracefully demonstrating the proportion of the entire costume.

Although this was still a makeup test stage—with slight room for refinement in skirt volume and wig edge smoothing—the overall atmosphere achieved exactly what was intended. The photo set primarily relied on lighting contrast to deliver texture and depth without relying on exaggerated post-processing filters, which best preserved the clean makeup and authentic textile textures. I am thoroughly satisfied with the fidelity and execution of this Honkai: Star Rail Castorice cosplay.
