For this cherry blossom outdoor photoshoot of Elaina, we chose a grove of cherry blossoms in full bloom as the background. Since the color of cherry blossoms is tenderly pink and bright, the purple wide-brimmed hat and silver-white hair actually look highly pleasing to the eye in this high-saturation environment. The warm-and-cool contrast between purple and pink makes the character stand out sufficiently in the frame. In terms of styling, besides the essential magic broom and brown crossbody bag, the boots this time were specially selected to feature a pink patchwork heel, creating a small visual echo with the color of the cherry blossom grove to enhance the overall sense of unity. The costume fabric was chosen to be a matte texture, avoiding large areas of reflection under direct sunlight, which helps maintain the weight and layering of the cloth in natural light environments. The hairstyle was treated as a voluminous, slightly wavy long look according to the character setting, with the hair ends thinned out to enhance a sense of lightness. Paired with that iconic big hat, holding it steady during photos relied entirely on its gravity.
When shooting this set of photos, to recreate the character's casual, carefree sense of journeying, I intentionally kept my body movements relaxed without striking too many exaggerated poses. The half-body close-up in Photo 2 is one of my most satisfied compositions in the finished set, because the sunlight just happened to filter through the petals overhead onto my face. The slightly aloof yet soft look in the gaze, along with the edge structure of the hat, occupied an appropriate proportion in the frame, keeping the visual focus concentrated. During the photoshoot, the wind was actually quite strong, and the hat almost blew away. Fortunately, the brim base was stiff enough; holding the brim slightly with one hand while gripping the broom with the other hand allowed us to instead snapshot a few highly natural dynamic moments.
When roleplaying this Ashen Witch, her personality traits are being outwardly aloof and keeping emotions hidden, yet innerly delicate and soft. This was also the core of my expression management this time, presented through a slight tilt of the head and a gentle sidelong glance, hoping the finished set can convey the cherry blossoms and fleeting leisure she encounters on her journey. In the post-processing color grading of the entire set, we reduced the black saturation of the shadows to keep the highlighted colors of the skin and clothes clean, fitting the spring atmosphere of tender pink petals. During the shoot, the photographer also specifically found angles shielded by tree branches to apply diffuse reflection light, ensuring the light on the character's face was uniform and soft for this Anime-style photography session.
